  • Tuesday Roll Call 10/16/07

    Good morning fellow STACers,

    I'm up a little earlier than normal today (which is totally ridiculous!) because my husband is out of town fishing, so I have extra things to do. I hate getting up one minute earlier than my regular 4:30 (told you it was ridiculous), but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

    Another cheat free day yesterday...15 now. My next goal is to go 31, or this entire month. I'm very confident I can do it.

    It's amazing how much better I feel with only a 6.5 loss. I mean, I FEEL thinner and more self-confident. Yesterday I noticed that my posture is even better. It just amazes and baffles me how much my self-confidence is entwined with how I look. What amazes me even more is what 'switch' goes on/off with regard to my will. Once it's there, it's like magic. Everything seems easier; focus, confidence, happiness. Not to be redundant, but I'll say it again...thank GOD for this woe/wol. I'm so happy to be here with all of you! I learn so much and draw strength from this board.

    Yes...thank goodness for ADBB & the support that we get here! It's wonderful to get praise, encouragement, motivation, gentle kicks in the butt, suggestions, cooking ideas...The biggest plus is the friendship!!


    I'm still bouncing off the walls from yesterday. I weighed in & lost 2.2# in a week. A total of 6# in 2 weeks!!! I know it is because of exercise. So I'm motivated to get out & walk even more as I'm seeing the scale go down.

      Hug and Glenda, that is awesome on both of your losses. You are right, this WOE kicks butt doesn't it? I'm so happy to have found a WOE that is healthy and beneficial. I can't believe when i got my blood work back last week that all the numbers are good, except i need raise my good cholesterol and she said to do that with 4 oz of red wine a night, so that's not bad...

      p.s. i'm up another 1/2 pound, so that puts me at 3 lbs from goal...don't know why i'm gaining, i'll have to refigure my CCLL again, so i guess i'm going to drop back...boy maintenance is a tough one.....any advise Jess?

          Good Morning... I too weighed in with a 2lb loss for the week so I am quite happy.. I weigh on Tuesdays for a different group I am in.. Whenever I weigh less here on this board I change my ticker so its current...

          I also woke up at 4:30 before my usual 5:30 time to get up.. Might need a nap later today..

            Hi all. Hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday. Huggija I completely know what you are saying. The first time I did Atkins I did it religiously for months, but I didn't really get why I was doing it. I thought it was going to be another quick fix and then back to 'normal eating'. Third time around I know it is not just to lose weight - it is about eating to live. I realised before I was never truly living, but just going from day to day trying not too obsess about food, and then feeling disgusted when I caved in and overindulged, and the cycle kept on repeating.

            But today a colleague asked me how long I was going to do this, and I told her this was forever. She nearly gagged when I told her I was quite content never to eat a piece of bread again, something I never imagined I could say and truly believe it. So I guess I have managed to finally flip the switch and being strong has never been easier.

              Well I am here...that is pretty much all I can say. Last night was not a good night for more than one reason, and needless to say it was not a cheat free night. Anyways....I have my tylenol in hand and ready to put that night behind me. Keep on keeping on! That's the motto today!

                I love it: "Another quick fix and then back to "normal eating"....That's why we gain it all back! We make this a quick fix. I've seen alot of people come and go looking for a quick fix....this type of diet aint it! This is a lifestyle...This is the honeymoon phase for alot of you, and when it gets rocky and bumpy, pressing into make it a lifestyle is going to take everything you've got! I've been through so many bumps in the last 4 months...but I keep seeking a way of living, a low carb way of living, so that I can keep the weight off....
                Hugg, you are in the zone, don't throw it away...go for that 31day cheat free, and then another and another....It can be done, stay in the zone!

                    Gooood morning!

                    Well, I'm down another pound today, so I'm .5 lbs from my mini goal of 205. That weight gain last week has a pleasant consequence - for the last 5 days, I've been losing a minimum of a pound a day! Who knew?

                    Hugg - I know exactly what you mean. Once I that magic switch goes on, I'm completely committed, and it's nothing to avoid cheating. I mean, I'm not even tempted. Congrats on your loss. I agree - when I start to feel thinner, everything in my body responds, including posture.

                    Glenda - Exercise is like magic! Isn't it great? And don't you FEEL better? Keep it up, girl!

                    Blaze - I have two thoughts: 1) Are you coming down with something? Two of us on this forum had weird weight gains and ended up being sick for a few days - one with a flu virus(headcold) and me with a bladder infection. 2) are you possibly NOT wanting to hit goal?

                    Sandy - You are sooo awesome. That's all I can say.

                    Yo - man,never another piece of bread? I plan to. Not regularly,and not a ton of it. But if I can't have pita with my tehina and hummus once a month, or challah on Friday night, I'm outta here! Once you are in maintenence, you can OCCASIONALLY enjoy things. (Although frankly, if I never can eat either of those again, I wouldn't. You're right on that count)

                    Mica - get your you-know-what together! (administering swift kick in butt). You had one cheat, and it's lasted for 2 days! (giving swift hug). I know this is a rough time. Come here for support instead of going to the food! And get some exercise today, no matter what you eat,ok?

                    Today I have class in the evening, and it's a class I don't mind going to. I will stop at Starbucks for a breve latte to bring (sugar free cinnamon dolce is delicious). No workout today, it'll be a rest day. My students are exercising me plenty, though! Yowza! 17 of them. 4 with autism. 6 with umedicated adhd. Need I say more? I love them!

                        Hi everyone! I'm new here at the STAC - and this time I'm taking it seriously like the 1st time I was on it - close to 8 years ago.

                        What a great board and group to find as I so need the support! Especially since my #1 support (husband) is not here right now and so I am trying not to eat out of boredom.

                        I've been cheat-free for about 2 weeks during my extended induction phase because I actually look and feel a lot better on induction than OWL - not sure why but I can deal with it.

                          Don't have much time to post. I got to work and dived in. Lots to do. But I wanted to report since I promised myself. I stuck to the Atkins WOE and went to the gym last night. So, I got to draw two smily faces on my new "keeping track" calendar. Stuck it right there on the side of the fridge so everybody can see it. (It has two places "Did you stick to your Atkins Induction today" and "Did you exercise today". Yes is blue and a smiley face, no is red and a frowny face. I like smiley faces!!!!

                          Anyway, off to work. Busy busy busy.

                            Everyone is so upbeat!! Yes, we an do this, it is a great WOE!

                            Hug - I'm going for 31 days as my first goal! Join me! Day 16 and going great!

                            Evermind - We don't have to cheat because there are all kinds of things that we can have. I think that the first time around I looked at it like I was deprived, when really we don't have to be!

                            Glenda - Keep it up, I bet you see another 2 lbs this week! I know I need to exercise more, something I have to make myself make time for. I go to the Y about three times per week but it's been so busy lately I'm lucky to get there once! YES, stop making excuses right!

                            Blazin - those last few pounds are the hardest! I think finding the CCL is hard also. You'll get there!!

                              I'm back from my holiday bender. Gained 4 pounds and a spot in induction for it but it only comes once a year and we don't celebrate any other holidays---sooooo. lol

                              I've been keeping up with my exercise though and yesterday we went to the state fair and walked for three hours. I was also able to say NO to all the fair food--ah the smells though..yummy. I did have a nibble of hubby's corn on the cob but the kids ate cotton candy, candy apples, etc and the most I got from that was a whiff.

                              I missed you all and I'm so happy to see all the new faces!
