I start AGAIN on Wednesday Jan 2. Are there any others out there who are visiting and thinking of starting? If thats you lets do it together. I did not intend on starting another New years diet. But my schedule of events in my life allowed for this to be the perfect day to start. I've done Atkins twice before, last time got to day 22, I cheated and ate a piece of choclate and was a goner, and never stopped eating sugar..so here I am trying again. I think I'd really be a failure if I didn't keep trying. I have a terrible addiction to sugar, it like a drug to me, so it important that I not even taste it at least for the next several months. I will be taking this one day at time and would love some buddies. Accountability is key! Lets be the next group to begin the journey and end up posting our before and afters in a few months.

Congrats, remember the sooner you start, the sooner you will be over the induction flu.
You can do it!

Re: Beginning AGAIN Jan.2nd....
Mom2Ryan-
I plan on starting again Jan 2 too!
I have also done Atkins before for 8 months
and lost 30 pounds--then fell off the wagon.
I was looking at the notes I have where I charted
everything I ate for those 8 months.
I believe that was a big key for me because just
about the time I didn't think I needed the notes
is when I fell BIG TIME. I have to have something
visual that keeps me accountable. I already have
me a new daily planner I will take w/me everywhere
and chart it all again.
I am 50 so it will be a bit slower but I need to loose
about 20 pounds and don't want to wait until I need
to loose 30 again because it piles on fast after that.
I too am addicted to sugar and looking forward to getting
that taste off my mind and out of my body.
I have trouble at first keeping up with the induction eating-water
intake-and exercise every day. I mess up on one and stress out
about it (i am a perfectionist) and quit. I have to to stop beating
myself up about it. That's my main problem to solve this go around.
Good luck and a happy, healthy 2008Pie4me

Re: Beginning AGAIN Jan.2nd....
Well done on trying again! I have fallen on and off the wagon more times than I care to remember, so I know how it feels. Find something motivational, photos of you after weight loss before, and keep that in mind when that chocolate cries out to you - 5 minutes of chocolate or a lifetime of happiness and slim-ness?

Re: Beginning AGAIN Jan.2nd....
Hi mom2ryan
I too am starting again on Jan 2nd. I've lost count of how many times I've started Atkins, lost weight and felt great, only to fall off the wagon and gain it all back. I am now suffering from a Candida overgrowth, clinical depression, borderline diabetes, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, debilitating memory problems, and fibromyalgia. I'm also having back, knee, and hip problems and having a hard time getting around. I'm sick of feeling sick! I will have to be a little more strict for the first four to six weeks to get rid of the yeast beast, but I know I will feel so much better afterwards. I know from past experience that it helped me a lot to make myself accountable here on the boards, so will be checking in every day. I think my biggest challenge will be to start exercising again, but hopefully with everyones encouragement I can do it. I look forward to losing weight with you!

Re: Beginning AGAIN Jan.2nd....
Congrats on restarting guys!! It takes a lot of guts and will power to do this. You really have to want it and y'all seem to have the right attitude. I too have done this and fallen off before...It was Easter, I lost 40 of the 50lbs I had to lose and I made the mistake of rewarding myself with a Cadbury Creme Egg. Two years later Im back to where I was minus 10-15lbs. The sooner the better is right...the sooner you start the better you'll feel! But I can relate about having a start date. I started tossing the idea in my head before thanksgiving and it took till the day after christmas to start. I wish I would have started before. The best of luck to you!

Re: Beginning AGAIN Jan.2nd....
Plan and Prepare, come here and read your DANDR book....then just make it through the day, one day at a time.. Think of this as a shift in lifestyle, not a crash diet or a diet at all...Pg 223 and 224 in the DANDR book talk about doing Atkins the WRONG WAY and it bares looking into ....
Congrats and good luck, we are here for you.74 8/1/06

Re: Beginning AGAIN Jan.2nd....
Welcome to all the new people!! It's an exciting journey and this is a great place to start and to meet.
Check in daily with ROLL CALL and you'll find some great support from so many people.
Read the book
Yep I even had to buy the 2002 version again and re-read it and it worked so well and so many lil lights went off in my head.
Get into veggies!! Get creative if you have to but get them in. This WOE isn't about just eggs and bacon - you get most of your carbs from veggies.
GOOD LUCK - we are right here with you!
