i know i'm not counting calories here, but what are your ballpark estimates during induction? my last few days have been around the 1300's. i feel like this is too much.
That's actually almost too low. If you eat below 1200 calories your body will try harder to hang onto the fat because it thinks it might not get enough food in the future.

Yes, oils are a good way to add good fat and up your calories. I tried to do that with cream recently because I am afraid of eating too few calories and it gave me diarrhea! So I ended up having to eat chunky bleu cheese dressing with pork rinds for a snack.
Me and misplaced southerner are actually trying to find more ways to add more fat. I eat a lot of my veggies raw and without dips so I have to try to up my fats. The ideal ratio while on induction is 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs.

thank you. the last 2 days my fat was good..today a bit low. right around 50%. i think maybe i'll have a tblspoon of Coconut Oil or something to at least add a bit more before the day is done.
I watch mine like a hawk and even though I know that every now and thing if you have an off percentage day it won't hurt you but I am trying so hard, I hate to see it out of whack, you know?

yeah definitely. well hopefully the rest of the two weeks, things will go smoothly. honestly i'm not really hungry right now..so yeah...using more oils/some butter when cooking might be the solution instead of just packing more food down.
My calories can vary hugely from day to day. Some days I'll struggle to get 1100 down, other days I have to practice big-time self control to keep them under 1900. For the most part though, I average between 1300-1600.
I am not a believer in force feeding just to hit a set of numbers. I eat what my appetite tells me I need to eat. Some days it's less, other days it's more- but it all averages out.
I haven't counted calories in a while but when I first started I did fit day religiously and averaged about 1,500. Just like the others...some days more and some days less. 60 + pounds melted off over about 8 months so I guess you could say it worked. Don't let yourself get too hungry, that always leads to a disaster.

I watch it because my appetite is so low now, I sometimes put my food in and I have only eat 800 calories. That is very bad. I always makesure I get over 1200 calories. I never worry about getting too many calories though. I like it when I eat at least 1500 better than 1200 with the amount of exercise I am doing. That's what I love about this diet. Once I got past induction, I was rarely hungry and for the first time was able to just stop when I got satisfied. Before I would just eat adn eat and eat.

During Induction you shouldn't be worried about your calories at all.. you should eat until you are full..not stuffed..... The object of induction is to get the junk out of your body. If you are watching your calories then that means you won't eat enough fat cause fat is usually a lot of calories..
I never watch my calories.. I will if I find that I am not losing....
It is hard for me to go above 1400 and I have to really work at it almost every day. I need to be around 1600 to lose.
As for you, Mrs. S, now we know why you are having these massive cravings! Fat at 50% is the root of the evil. At any given point in the day, your fat should be higher. It's not enough to have a teaspoon of coconut oil. You need to incorporate more fat snacks into your daily regime. Honest!

I'm the same way, somedays I really have to push it to get to 1000 even. With all the veggies I have now my calorie count is always low. I still have a hard time wanting to eat more calories though! My mind still says "low calorie is better!!" I keep trying to tell myself that I've been indoctrinated by the food pyramid and need to let it go but it's hard!

thanks everyone for your responses. i am finding that i have to push myself to get more fat and calories in. i'm not "watching" my calories or trying to restrict them in any way. i just wanted to see what everyone averaged out to..and now i see that i am on the low side. more fat it is and hopefully less cravings. today was a good day though. no urges like yesterday.
