    (((Beanpole))) I hope and pray you'll be able to get the funds to stay connected...it's a gal's priority sometimes! Seriously...hope things work out soon!!


    I'm contemplating taking up swimming....it's a different exercise and I love to swim. But today, I'm walking and enjoying the last days of spring break. Oh, this spring break is going by too fast!!!

        Hi All,

        Just checking in. Went to the bufet at hospital today. One would think there would be tons of healthy food choices there - but alas - NONE I could see. Fried cheese, fried pork (both breaded), a wonderful assortment of pastries, cakes, cookies, chocolate, some yoghurts (not for me yet), and lots of salads loaded with some kind of white sauce - mayo? yoghurt? mystery sauce. So, I had a bad coffee with some cream and Splenda. No, it was really bad - I thought I could taste mold in the coffee!

        So, it's 5.00 here and I haven't had a single thing to eat today. Sigh. Can't do this during the day. I will cave for sure. I guess I need to pack some snacks to take with me. Must check out snack section of recipe book. I find snacks the hardest with atkins. A stick of meat and a piece of cheese - there has to be something better than that.

        Off to get dinner...

          Greetings all!

          Couldn't get on the website this morning - not sure if there was a problem or not or if it just didn't like me today. Going to stop at store this evening to try and find a BEGINNER's cardio DVD that I like - tried On Demand Exercise Channel last night, but most of those programs are for people that work out alot -- and I just started up so there is no way I can hang... but I need something else to break up my routine and confuse the ole body.

                I've had one very stressful week already. Tuesday just sent me into a fit of depression. I did good for that day but Wednesday I resorted to emotional eating. Thankfully I didn't do any damage to the scale, just my metabolism.

                I'm back on track today and hopefully will see results again soon.

                  Good day so far. Lots of rain here, but I'm on plan. I made some sugar-free jello on Tuesday night, and had it and some sugar-free hard candy the last two days, and my weight loss stopped. So, no more of that for me.

                  Four pounds down after seven days - including one day when I completely cheated. Not too bad. Off to the gym tonight, though, and home early. "Celebrity Apprentice" and the tournament are on. Should be fun!

                        Hi BeanPole.

                        Just a note re: your friend's job loss. While I was doing my MBA we were taught that jobs aren't obtained through the internet, want ads, etc. They are obtained through your personal network. So, this is the process we were taught to use when job searching:

                        Make a list of everyone you know. Call them up and ask if they have a job for you. If not, they must give you the name of someone who might be able to help. And so on. This way your network expands into the networks of everyone you know. Kind of like the facebook concept.

                        Job seeker: "Hi. I just lost my job and I wondered if you might be able to help me. I'm looking for something in X although I have skills x,y, & z that are transferable and would be an asset in any position."

                        Friend: "No, we don't have any openings at my workplace right now."

                        Job seeker: "That's ok. Can you give me the name of a friend or colleague that you think might be looking for someone?"

                        Friend: "You might try Person X at Firm Y."

                        I'm sure you get the picture. It really does work this way. People would rather hire someone who is referred from a friend or colleague rather than a stranger.

                        Best to hit the streets early before too much stress and depression sets in.

                        Thinking of you tons. Nothing sucks like looking for work.

                            Aloha,
                            I'm one day away from completing induction! Whoo hoo! I wasn't sure it would work and whether I would benefit. I'm feeling so great. I'm sure that you second timers can relate... I'm feeling like this WOE is so familiar and comfortable, like a long lost friend. It really is coming back to me. I have not stepped on the scale, but will do so tomorrow. Wish me luck!

                            Beanpole, as others have said my heart goes out to you. It is early in the process, but the uncertainty can be stressful. I do hope that you can stay connected. You can often use the internet for free at a local university or library, but there is nothing like having it available in your home. I'm praying that you will find the silver lining in this dark cloud.

                              Hey all!

                              Slept in and had to get ready for class so didn't have time to hit roll call in the a.m. but I'm here now! Had class, then ran an errand or two and went to water aerobics. I was really having fun (and was the youngest in class) so I really pushed because it felt too easy. Fast forward two hours and I'm sore! Water aerobics kicked my butt! LOL! So I'm officially a member of the Y now and I'm gonna take advantage of it. Tomorrow I want to try those elliptical machines, just for a quick 20 minute workout, then I'm taking a yoga class and topping it off with a nice lap swim. So I'll be back on here tomorrow for Friday roll call and tell y'all how it went!

                                I am the youngest in my class too.. except for the instructor she is younger then me..and pregnant.. I try to increase my workout when I am there too and work harder then the older women Know what was funny yesterday we ALL had black bathing suits on... The teacher was the only one in a Blue bathing suit.
