  • Oh no...

Last night I made cupcakes with my kids, I thought I was strong enough to not eat any as I have done it in the past. I really should of known better with the frame of mind Im in, so of course I licked the spoon and had a couple mouth fulls. which lead to me having a total of 3 cupcakes no doubt kicking me out of ketoses.

Today I woke up feeling sluggish. I have been drinking lots of water and just trying to not beat myself up to much and put it down to I wont be making cupcakes for awhile. I need to get on track and stop wondering off, I dont know what my problem is.

    Re: Oh no...

"Frame of mind" might have some play in all of this. It's certainly my biggest advocate and greatest weapon and at times who haunt me to distraction. My frame of mind must constantly be face and acknowledged. Some times i go to bed early with a bad frame of mind. Other times I drink extra water with a bad frame of mind or an extra walk or bike ride or something. I avoid triggers, or I PAY!
I've learned that when my frame of mind is really defeated and discouraged and i am at my tiredest, MAN I"VE GOT TO BE TOTALLY ON MY TOES, or I will crash and burn. I've had to study my moods and responses to things and look for those triggers and head them off.
Stay on top of it, and things will mellow back out. Don't give in, or you will slide down the slippery slope!

Gotta ask you if it was worth it? Need to stay focused and resist temptation. Those of us that want it bad enough, will succeed. God Bless, Joe

I can really relate to how addicts feel with drugs, I know its not the same but the desire for just one more bite or just one more time is pretty much the same. Well thats my guess Ive never had problems with drugs but I can relate to the desire of being pulled back into it cause you having a weak moment.

Thanks Jesse that made allot of sense what you said and I need to know when Im in those types of moods of frame of mind I wont do silly things that will make me cheat or fall off the wagon. Im feeling better and my husband is coming home next Saturday from Iraq so I want to look really good and not cheating. I want to show him how well I have done while hes way with my diet and excerise.

Joee5- Well at the time it felt good and was so yummy, but no it wasnt worth it the next day when I felt icky and felt bloated and fat. I just need to learn what my triggers are and how to control them.

In due time. At least you were honest enough with yourself and realize now that sometimes we need to resist and not give in. Stay true to yourself. God Bless, Joe

I agree with Aussie and Jess. If you know you are having a day when your strength of will is in question, then that is a day to steer away from situations that will present a temptation. On those days I try to do something positive with my time and make an extra rich dinner or legal cheesecake dessert--something that will take away the feeling of deprivation without cheating.

If you are making something for the kids, make yourself a treat too. Something as simple as a diet rootbeer with 2 tbsp cream and a dash of vanilla. Nothing like a rootbeer float to make you feel like you have had a real treat.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Hello, I bought these strips at Wal Mart. I think they are called Purline. They totally numb your mouth so even if you are making something yummy, if you take one little taste...it taste bitter and you won't want it. I use them occassionally. On a scale of 1 - 10 I give these little strips and 10.
                Hope it helps
