    Roll Call!

Every morning, I get up and I go in the closet and try on a pair of shorts, they are Eddie Bauer shorts that I absolutely love. Size 10. I can tell you last week, I could NOT close them. It was torture of an emotional kind. I was so sad but I had willingly gone back to higher carbs for sports endurance fuel. My body just packs the fat back on. (Obviously I over ate and stored the excess as fat, pretty darn easily and quickly)...

This is day 5 and they now button close. Not comfortable enough to wear but close. It's not the shorts, its the FOCUS.
My focus has shifted from completing a 50 mile bike ride and the 6am training rides, to getting back in those short!

Focus is critical. Staying focused and positive and accepting that things might move VERY SLOWLY. Impatience will cause me to get mad, frustrated and potentially cave in and go back to higher carbs....

So I put those pants on in all their uncomfortable REALITY and I use it to force myself to move in their direction! No denial here, no lack of focus here. Soon this painful time will be gone and the real challenge of keeping the weight off will begin again!

    Good Morning

Wow! Jess I have had so many of those days myself.

"Focus is critical. Staying focused and positive and accepting that things might move VERY SLOWLY. Impatience will cause me to get mad, frustrated and potentially cave in and go back to higher carbs...." stated by Jess is exactly how I have acted these past few months.

I am staying focused this time around and not giving in! I am on day 4 of induction (again) It might take awhile for these last 10 pounds to fall off but I am not going to give in.

    Have a great day everyone

        Good morning.
Almost through induction. Didn't see a loss this morning but those don't happen every morning.
Thankfully my 7 month old is sleeping so getting to enjoy breakfast without her eyeballing my plate. At least she likes broccoli, she eats it often with me

Good morning all. Today is my official weigh day and I was pleased to see that I stayed the same. I had being eating too much on the rung I moved up to so was afraid that I might have gained. I've moved back down to dairy again.

            Have a great day everyone.

pretty much exactly what I needed to read, thank you! I'm not at the WANT HIGHER CARBS phase yet, especially since I'm fully aware that it would be counter productive (thus making me even MORE miserable), but it's all going so slowly that it's a little depressing.

              guess I should exercise more.

still on plan, that's one thing. ha!

hope you all have a great day!

                Re: Roll Call8-14

I'm late, but here. I agree about being focused. Measuring success has to be varied from scale numbers to fit of clothes, staying on plan, how you feel mentally and physically, etc. There are so many ways to measure results on this WOE.

                  Biceps and Triceps
Your biceps are the prominent muscles in your upper arms. They help you bend your arms and they assist the muscles of your upper back in pulling and carrying. Your triceps are horseshoe-shaped muscles located on the backs of your upper arms. Their primary function is extending the elbows and straightening your arms, but they also assist the chest and shoulder muscles in throwing and pushing.

Two great exercises for working these upper-arm muscles are dumbbell biceps curls and triceps kickbacks. Check them out:
                  Dumbbell Biceps Curls
This simple curl isolates your biceps.
                  Step 1
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms at your sides. Hold a dumbbell in each hand with your palms facing the sides of your body. Exhale and, keeping your elbows locked firmly against your rib cage, curl both arms three-quarters of the way up toward your shoulders, rotating your wrists so your palms face upward.
                  Step 2
Hold for a beat, focusing on squeezing your biceps. Inhale and slowly lower your arms back to the starting position; repeat.
                  Triceps Kickbacks
Isolate your triceps and say goodbye to flabby arms.
                  Step 1
Hold a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing your sides, and stand with your feet hip-width apart and a slight bend in your knees. Bend over at the waist so that your torso is slightly above parallel with the floor. Bend both elbows so that your upper arms are locked at your sides parallel to the floor. Your forearms should be perpendicular to the floor.
                  Step 2
Keeping your upper arms still, straighten your forearms behind you until the ends of the dumbbells are pointing toward the floor. Hold for a beat and inhale, slowly lowering your arms back to the starting position; repeat.

                    Re: Roll Call8-14

Yay me! Made it back from my trip still in ketosis! If you had seen the things I had to resist... I did have to make one choice I wasn't thrilled about. Lunch today, was a full service meal, but the entrees were etoufee, jambalaya, or fried fish. Breaded fish is not legal for a first rung OWLer, but the others would have been disastrous, and the only other things I could eat were the salad and green beans. But last night I just stayed with Prime Rib and salad, and there were cut veggies and cheeses, breakfast was pretty easy today as long as I didn't look at the cheese blintzes! The box lunch yesterday, I just took the meat and cheese off the sub roll and ate the slice tomatoes and pickle, gave the cookie and chips away.

They had bottled water in abundance, everywhere for the whole conference. After dinner last night I even managed to go to the rooftop saline pool and work out for 45 minutes as the sun set and the stars came out!
