I have a dorm size refrigerator that I keep my "diet food" in. It's off limits to husband and the 3 ravenous teenagers in the house. I told them not to even look in it. My schedule is so hectic that my food disappearing would make me angry, and they wouldn't like me when I'm angry! LOL

Re: I'm so mad I could scream

Husbands, can't kill 'em, can't live without 'em. Since my hubby is doing Atkins along with me, it's those teenagers who eat my food that drive me nuts. I keep the freezer in the garage stocked with their favorite junky stuff (pizzas, etc), and I'll come in to get a piece of sliced salami, and it's magically gone "poof". Can't kill them either. Oh well, they will be gone next fall, and then I'll miss them stealing my food (not really). But, I do understand how frustrating it is to go to the fridge or pantry and your stuff is gone. Hope it's better now after your talk with him.

I took this approach too. I keep it in my locked office too since my kids are little and have less self control than teens. Although from what I hear teens really don't have much self control either.

Re: I'm so mad I could scream

I am a food broker. I have food spilling out all over the house. I already have 4 freezers and 2 full size refridgerators. I am wondering if I can even fit a mini fridge in my house? Maybe I can get one and place it under my desk?

I will have to think about it.

I do like the "un-assembled" food items. My hubby would be there stairing blankly into the fridge thinking to himself duh..... " I wonder where all the food is?" scratching his beard....LOL That one is perfect.

This is what I do when wanting to take devilled eggs to a 'bring a plate' function as they get messy looking if assembled then transported. It only takes a moment or two to lay out the egg halves and snip the corner of the bag of filling with scissors then 'pipe' it onto the egg halves.

Re: I'm so mad I could scream

I'm glad to hear that you were able to talk this matter through with your husband. Well, judging from what I've read regarding your husband and daughter and your food, I would definitely make extra servings. I'm sure, that you as the main one who prepares the food, are familiar with what your family likes to eat. You could also try announcing to them that you will be making a certain snack or recipe and that if they would like some, they should let you know so that you can make extra for all of you.

                  Hope that helps!

Was it horrible of me to immediately think "Pour red cayenne inside a hollowed out egg and then cover it with deviled yolk mixture" and make sure you dont eat that egg...

Sorry, you can only tell someone to ask before they eat your stuff and get ignored so many times...

I'll never forget the time (pre-Atkins) when I saw some red Kool-Aid in the fridge and stole a sip only to learn it was hummingbird food! My wife also likes to make homemade suet for the birds which sometime uses peanut butter as an ingredient. They smell wonderful, but I've seen the lard and seeds that also go in so I've learned not to trust my eyes and nose...

One lady was baking special wreath-shaped bird cookies, which she covered with peanut butter and sprinkled liberally with bird seed. She placed them in the fridge to harden before putting on a bow, which she would then use to hang them outside.

Her husband, who was noted as being the human garbage disposal, ate several of them before coming to ask her if she had left out the sugar by accident. They were a lot of work, so she was furious!

My husband did that for a while too - now he understands that if he eats the last (whatever) he has to make some more or go buy some or at the very least put it on the list- so when I go shopping, I know I need more.

My friend has a teenager that eats non stop - she hides things in containers labeled 'bran or flax' and he stays out of it!

Thanks to everyone for sharing. I am not alone. I just have always felt like such a horrible B**** for complaining about him eating my low carb food.

The frustration is from him having a donut in one hand and a piece of my extremely expensive sugar free candy in the other.

Then when I go for a snack, there are plenty of chips, donuts, cookies, ice cream but no sugar free candies.
