      Re: Atkins Resistant

While I guess the previous poster said an SSRI could affect it, I have lost with 100mg and Atkins. The package insert lists weight loss as an adverse effect of Zoloft (meaning, people lose more weight with it, not less).

Something to consider when the book says something about medications - a lot of these are being reformulated/approved after the book was written so while some of the older generations of drugs may have caused issues, it doesn't mean that the newer generations would have the same problems.

For what it's worth, the first time, I lost 80lbs in under 5 months... by the 15th restart, it's gotten quite a bit harder, and trying to do my "own version" of Atkins was a complete failure.

        Re: Atkins Resistant

Michelle, I lost a lot in 1999 on Atkins. It gets harder as we get older to lose weight. I am actually far stricter this time around than I was in 1999, and I am not having the same success on the scale, but doing it more correctly I feel much better.

I've taken various ones, but yes, that is one that I was on and did lose weight with Atkins while on.

For some reason, I can't get the 'quote' thing to work, but I love this Josie2: "Anything worth achieving will give you many opportunities to walk away with out the prize."

That resonated with me. Although I'm losing, a lot of the insights you all are talking about makes sense. I really need to cut back on splenda/crystal light...good point!

You guys really are awesome.. I'm always either in tears of desperation or tears of new found inspiration (need to up my dose?) well - I'm going to weigh in on Monday and I won't break down if the scale didn't move. I'm eating my veggies and being much more careful. Thank you all again. I will come back to report my first mini goal.

Lola -- you need to drink AT LEAST 64 ounces of water daily....more than that would be better - I drink 150 ounces of water a day and some days I drink another 30 ounce glass if I feel I need it. 48 ounces isn't enough each day. Also you need to get moving doing some sort of exercise each day - join some challenges here on the board it will help! Here is the link to the challenge area. Re: Atkins Resistant

                    Here's my two cents

I would avoid any fast food burgers as SunnyOne said. They do put fillers in their so called beef burgers and it's usually cereal fillers too. The best food you can eat is what you prepare yourself. That way you know what you are eating for carbs. Eat your veggies too. They are good for you. Just the ones for induction of course. My favorite lunch is romaine lettuce, 1/2 cuke and roasted chicken salad with some shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits with bleu cheese dressing. That gets my daily cheese, most of my veggies, protein and fat into my planning.

That being said, I do remember losing faster when I was on Atkins the first time. I was also 20 years younger!

Also I would think that the more times you change your WOE and try to lose weight, your body starts getting smarter in hanging on to the fat. YoYo dieting is bad no matter what plan you choose I'm sure.

Stick it out. You'll figure it out. Do as other's are suggesting. Do a clean induction for at least a week and see what happens. Don't eat out, bring your lunch to work or with you when you are out. Fix my favorite salad and pack it to bring along. Drink your water. Don't forget you can eat pork rinds! They saved me from many snack attacks!

Don't despair. Trust me. I know what it's like to have a hard time losing the pounds!

                        Re: Atkins Resistant

Yup. I think it isn't working because you aren't following the program.

                        1. Drink at least 64 oz water, not crystal light, plain water. The water with stuff in it is additionto, not in place of, water

                        2. eat your veggies

                        3. if you can, cut out coffee or switch to decaf

                        4. exercise will not only improve your mood but help your metabolism. I mean break a sweat exercise. You also feel more confident and positive about your capabilities.

                        5. did i say, eat your veggies?

                        6. sweeteners are limited on induction

                        7. once again, eat your veggies.

Not to be rough but the program is designed in a way that all the pieces support together. If you pull out one support beam, the whole thing can fall apart. Try it again, for real. be realistic in your goals, and do investigate the affect of your meds. The pharmacist should be able to tell you. Good luck.

Congratulations for 3lbs in 8 days, Ashley!!! I would *love* to have that happen to me!!!

It's best not to check your weight until the end of the 14 day induction period since "weight loss is not linear". However, maybe you should post a menu for review in that forum and people can see if there is something going on there... are you running for at least half an hour at least 3 times a week?

I can't say anything that these people aren't saying, and I can't say that they weren't this harsh on me either...that being said, I'm tip-toeing around a 40 pound loss in the past two months. You need to totally buy into what they're saying, plan out a week's worth of meals at a time, and stick to it. If you get hungry in between, your willpower has to take over and you have to just reject the food that you know you shouldn't eat.

I'm in no way an expert, but this does work. Lean on these people here for support and do yourself a favor and really stick to a weekly plan. You'll see results!

                              Hello,

Just a comment to add to the discussion.

Exercise itself is a known anti-depressant. Just try it for 2 WEEKS. If you don't see a change in your mood for the better, I would be very very surprised.

Can you challenge yourself to that?
