  • Roll Call 2/19/09

    Good morning everyone. I've never started a roll call before, not always on the computer this early, but I really wanted to check in this morning. I have been beeing much more careful with what I am eating and drinking the last few days, and it's showing. The scales have been going down almost daily this week, which is a huge motivation for me! I have also been extremely busy, and that keeps me from snacking, which is my enemy - even legal snacks, it seems. I really pushed the water yesterday as well, and I know that helps me a lot.

    I hope that everyone has a great on-plan day, and don't forget to drink your water.

    Hi All, Just checking in- Day 11 of induction and still no progress. I will continue on... I actually feel very bloated and have no additional salt... I am drinking the water and am even thinking of trying to give up the caffeine tomorrow-don't know if I can but I have spent a ton of money on fresh food and can't give up until I try everything possible. Some people have e-mailed me and said b/c I don't have "much to lose", my scale may not budge which is just not right... Atkins should give you some sort of jump start or why would ANYONE bother? I don't think I should need to lose 50lbs to see any progress. Also to report, I am not in Ketosis and am not eating even 20 carbs, so must be really resistant. Think I will try eggs and bacon all day and lots of water-this is so discouraging. Hope everyone else is making progress-it keeps me going to hear at least others are working and getting results...       cpb - bacon has nitrates in it and a lot of bacon is cured in sugar. Have you tried posting your menu for others to evaluate? Are you eating gum or mints during the day that may contain sugar you're unaware of? Think of every possible thing you put in your mouth and write down EVERYTHING. Post it and see what we can make of it.

        Good morning all! I am here and in ketosis but not on the scale...that is driving me nuts!!!
        Hey Cara, don't sweat it. If you are eating like you should, it will come off. Maybe you are taking in "hidden" salt. It is surprising how some of us are so sensitive to salt (like me...I love Kalamata olives, but that is a garanteed 5 pounds on for at least 3-4 days)...Keep coming to the boards...did you post your menu for people to take a look? just DON'T GIVE UP...It may be slower for you, but it WILL WORK!!!

          Good morning everyone!

          I'm feeling good today, yesterday my weight jumped up to 168.6 and I was SO UPSET... but today it went down to 166.8 so That's better!

          I'm off to work, got a crock pot with chicken soup going right now, can't wait to eat that later! Yummy!

            hi all! Checking in... Down one pound this morning to 195. I feel like it should be more, as i'm following very carefully and drinking my 100 oz of water. I'm pretty sure i'm sabotaging myself with too much salt, as i can feel my hands feel swollen and my rings are too tight. Will make an effort as of today to stay away from excess salt!
            Also, i'm reading a lot of people are having difficulty drinking ALL the water they need to, so i thought i'd share what worked for me...
            I found something in my day that i do ALL DAY LONG. For example, i work in collections - so everytime i pull up a customer account code, i take a drink. Everytime i have to resubmit an invoice, i take a drink... and so on. By the end of my work day, i'm finishing my THIRD One liter Water bottle (101.43 ounces)...
            I know it's silly- but i was having trouble getting back ALL that water ~ especially since before this WOE my liquid intake was mostly coffee and... nope, pretty much just coffee.

              Good Morning.

              I am going to jump on the scale tomorrow to see if anything has moved. I was going to wait until next week, but I can't. I need to know if I am still dropping lbs. or not.

              Tomorrow, tomorrow - the sun will come out tomorrow. - Yeah, I have been breaking out in song the last couple of days. I am in the best mood ever today.

                Good morning all! Still trying to get my water intake up. Having a hard time maintaining it. I guess I'll just have to carry my bottle around with me everywhere, and drink more in the morning. The morning seems to be the hardest time for me to drink the water. One week from today we leave on our cruise, so I am determined to lose another 3 lbs before then.

                  I'm here today, and posted a small loss in the Biggest Loser contest at work. Only .5, but my scale at home is showing a 6 pound loss from last week (I'm wearing shirt, tie, shoes, etc...). Doesn't matter much though. The final weigh in is in 5 weeks. THAT is the weight that matters, and I plan to weigh in wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I'm going to win this thing!
                  I realized that my diet has too much salt in it, and I'm working on cutting that back while increasing my water. I was actually posting a huge loss until the last few dinners I had. Although low carb (about 7 carbs in the whole meal, ALL from veggies), my weight went up. I realized that the rub on the steak I was eating had a lot of salt/sodium in it (I had to eat out because of meetings). I was wondering why I was gaining instead of losing, but after double checking the contents and increasing my water, I saw a loss today.

                    No mints, no gum-Nothing! I will try to give up the coffee tomorrow. In regard to the bacon, my package shows no added sugar and I am having 4 slices w/3 large scrambled eggs. Today I had 3 patty's (pork) with 3 scrambled eggs and 20 oz of water. I have also started a multi-vitamin...My big weigh in will be on Monday and this past I will still 148...and yes it is heavy for ME.Good luck today everyone. I have posted my menu it is about 30 prtein/60 fat and 5 (no more_ Carbs... Under 1600 calories, again which I though really should not be an issue...

                      Good morning all, haven't weighed in a few days......TOM just left, so will weigh in the morning. Yesterday was a really bad day....uncontrolable munchies. All legal, but I feel like I ate tyoo much. Will see tomorrow. I hate TOM......I lose control. GRRRRRRR

                        Good Morning All, sorry I'm so late checking in, but it's been very busy. I had a whooshie last night! I was officially at 201.6, but we'll go with 202. It's my first multi-pound loss day in over a month. Hopefully it will still be there tomorrow. I guess the pressure washing and yardwork paid off. I thought I ate too much yesterday and ate too late. I didn't finish dinner until almost 7 pm.

                        FutureMrs, good work on the water intake, it will pay off bigtime.

                          Good morning STACers! I have been on pre-maintenance for about 3 months but was maintaining instead of slowly losing. Then I put on a few pounds in the past few weeks so 4 days ago, I restarted induction and today I'm down 6.5 pounds, which puts me back to where I was the first time I did Atkins (161.5)! This time I'm going to get much lower than that, because this time, I have ADBB!!!!

                            Hi fellow STACers! I'm finally back after a 3 week sick-leave from the forum. The kids got sick, then both my husband and I ended up catching the bug too. I'm glad that we are all back to our healthy selves!

                            I managed to stay on plan, except for having lemon juice with my tea and the cough drops, but everything else was Atkins friendly. I'm still at the same weight, although I had hoped to lose a bit while being sick. But I'm just happy that I didn't gain any!

                              Checking in for the day, good morning all! I am in a really good mood this morning and really am not sure why. But why question it, I am just going to go with it. I got alot accomplished yesterday, so I can take it easy today before I work the weekend.

                              We are all on the same journey here. The only difference is that each of us is in a different place along the road to our final destination: that place where we are healthy, happy and at peace with our perceived self image.

                              cpb - I feel for you with all the effort you seem to be putting in without getting the results you want. How discouraging for you. I am no expert by any means but you posted less than 20 carbs and in the last was that 5 carbs? Your body might be holding on with dear life thinking you are starving it. Induction is the 20 carbs with 12-15 coming in the form of veggies. To respond to "Why bother?", this WOL/WOE is for life, for better health and quality of living. I hope you stick with it and remember we're all here to support you!
