    Re: Roll Call 2/19/09

carlae, my prayers are with you and your Dad. My Grandmother died of Alzheimer's at 95. She actually lived with it (full blown) for 10 years. Once she was totally out of it, she was actually happy-it was our family that had the hard time. I am just glad I had the time with her up to her death almost ten years ago. My Mom is 75 now, and really afraid she will get it too. I think, however, she knows we would all be there for her, b/c, as you said, she was always (is) there for us. One day at a time...

CPB, thanks for your support! My dad turned 87 years old yesterday, and he has only been diagnosed with Alzheimers for 2 years. I never though that I would ever see him like this. Just two years ago, he was going to the lake and fishing, camping, etc. I will never regret the time that I have gotten to spend with him. He was always a wonderful father. My mother is 89 years old and seems to be going strong except for her eyes. She had a hole in her retina, and had it repaired. So, I am taking care of her too. I'll hang in there for them as long as they need me. Good luck with Atkins, you will lose the weight that you want to if you just stick with it. You seem like a strong person, so you can do it.
