  • Roll Call 3/10/09

    Wake up! ND is getting slammed by yet another winter storm today. Could someone please tell the good lord above that spring is almost here and we don't need any extra snow! The biggest part of the storm is yet to hit us I guess...they are saying another 6 inches or so.

    I for one love the time change... for some reason in my head I get to sleep for an extra hour...

    My weight is going in the right direction... I was up to 219 and now I am back down to 217. My pants are starting to get bigger and bigger. I grabbed a pair of pants out of the closet this morning and didn't look at the size...Now that I am at work - I should have grabbed a belt too. Awesome!

    TJ - checked out your album pictures - way to go bro you are looking fantastic. Keep up the great work!

    Sandy - I havent seen you around the boards in a long time. Great to see you are back. How have you been doing?

    Roll Call 3/10/09

    Good morning all,
    We are off to a late start I see. I am back to logging everything in fitday, as I have mysteriously started gaining weight. I hope it's because I am working out, but for some reason I don't think so. Time to go back to the basics again and cut out the "fun" foods. Breakfast was a Nathan's Famous quarter pound hotdog (2 carbs) and a quart of water. I think I can safely say that I have left Wonderland . I have been 201 for the last 3 days. I guess I need to up the cardio if I am going to keep lifting.

    I still have the stupid Elmo song in my head. For those of you who don't, La La lalala La, La La La La La, have a great day!

          Good Morning!
          I have a pretty serious question for everyone, as I am a little bit nervous/scared. Last night I went out to a diner and ordered a nice spinach and mozzarella omlette. Since it came with a piece of whole wheat toast, I ate half of it with a little butter on it. When I got home last night, my urine had a really sweet smell to it. Stupidly, I googled it and found all kinds of diabetes links. This had happened before, usually in the morning, but not in a very long time, and not since I started the program. From what I've read, it's a sign of your body not being able to process what you eat for energy. Could this program have messed up my system so that I can't use what I eat for energy? Has anyone else experienced this. My total carb count for yesterday, with the bread, was 20.

            I think one Nathan's is probably OK. It's not like I'm Kobyashi(ing) - wow, a new word! I've never been a purist anyway. I ate nuts during "induction" - quotes because the purists will say I never did induction. I went from induction to beer. It works for me, and those are my few sins. If I stall or gain, I know to blame the guy who ate the groceries. I'm down about 40 pounds since mid-December and have never felt better. If this is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

            It's an absolutely glorious morning in south Georgia today!

              No travel advised in Fargo... -2 degrees. By noon roads will be closed to traffic. Offices and businesses are closing in droves. Prairie Psych is closing and all medical offices are closing except for an emergancy. Today is not a day to go crazy I guess. They are expecting another 8 - 12 inches.

                  About to get on that treadmill again. Not much news here, just doing as
                  best I can, I have been staying off the scales and have not measured for
                  3 weeks. I know my pants are a couple notches wider, Will probably weigh
                  and measure this coming Monday.

                    I liked Nathons hotdogs to, but if I remember I looked at the ingredients and
                    they contained "wheat flour" so I went back to the Kosher Hebrew Nationals.

                      I was reading in Atkins For Life today and he says that if you only have a few pounds to lose, to skip Induction entirely. He suggests starting at 60 grams of carbs and working up or down from there.

                      But, I know, I know, it's not the 2002 "Bible" that we use here on this board.

                        I sneak a peek in here every now and then...but right now I am working on getting myself back on track.. I need energy.. Things have been really hard for us this winter... Finally my husband has gotten some work so I don't feel so guilty buying special foods for me..

                          Good morning.. I have already been out and about to a doctors appointment and then xrays.. Home now..and just relaxing because my head is busting.. I can't wait to start feeling better cause I feel like crap... I keep telling myself by Thursday I should feel like running....

                            Day 8 here, feeling good. Weighed in this morning and I'm down 9.1lbs and I lost a total of 18 inches overall in my first week of Slim in 6! Started Ramp it Up today.

                              Happy Tuesday STAC'ers

                              Still working on my house. Hopefully we will get the painting fo room #2 done and get that bed moved in by tonight. Maybe I will be done by Friday?

                              I stayed on plan yesterday and managed all of my water for once

                              I stupidly got on the scale again today (yesterday was lower) today was higher.... I really have to stop it. I am only taking Friday's as weigh in day. We can't let the scale get to us I know I am loosing. My clothes are either to big or close to being to big. I have lost 24# since Jan 3. Patience is definately needed. My skin looks great, my hair looks great, I feel a lot better (except when my back & knee hurt) and yet I still get bummed by the the STUPID scale.

                              NewtoAtkins-Jon, It sounds like you are spilling the ketones.... You are in ketosis. That is a normal smell when you are in ketosis. I only use the strips the first couple of weeks then I go by my breath (or urine). I do not think 1/2 slice of whole wheat toast with butter us enough to knock you out of ketosis.

                              TJ- I think your small gain has to do with all of the extra exercise that you have been getting and possibly a little to do with the added sodium. I would think that you will have a big woosh in a day or so. I bet you are really in onederland. I am not a purist either. You have to have some flexiblity in order for this WOL to work.

                              Sandy- I am glad you are here. Are you on induction again? That would explain the headache.
