Good morning, all!! The weekend is almost here!! I have a horrible day ahead working outside in freezing rain. Can't wait. I don't own the gear to keep me dry and warm in this kind of weather. Maybe it'll freeze some fat cells and kill them off!! If I'm lucky! Have a good one!

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Sorry to hear that Ev, it's supposed to be sunny and 80 here in GA.
Grey's Anatomy is back with an all new episode tonight, so Whoo Hoo!
Gonna be a busy day today. My wife has clinicals so she's already out the door. I have children drop off duty, a full work day, grocery shopping after work, and then take the boy to baseball at 6. Dinner sometime after that I guess. No workout for me today. I gotta get the kids up and moving. The hardest part is doing my daughter's hair for school. She's 5 with long hair and I'm 38 with almost none. I don't do hair well. I am here but it is already evening in China. Here it was cloudy but not too hot yet (we get into the 90s in April with rain every day) A good day. And I got to eat leftover Indian food for dinner. Yummm.

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Can I join? I restarted Atkins in Mid-February, but I've not been doing it very clean (more like OWL from what I'm hearing). This is also not my second time around, I've been around this block so many times I've worn down the pavement. Today will be day two of STRICT induction. I've recently added back in the gym (Monday) and am down 6lbs as of yesterday (I won't weigh myself until after my workout today) Can't argue with those results.
I'm off to read more posts in this section.

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Good morning everyone! Sorry for the bad weather some of your are enduring (we're already running out air conditioner here in FL!), and welcome to our latest newbie!
Started out the day with an hour on the treadmill at the gym ... rolled out of bed at 5:14 a.m., put on my sweats and took off; my husband has a new job that requires him to leave by 7 a.m. so I have to get out and back in a timely manner (we're a one-vehicle family). Well, it's incentive, I'll say that!
Have a good one, y'all!

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Good Morning!
I hope it is OK that I join the STAC. The first time I did Atkins (about 6years ago) I lost 75lbs to reach my goal weight. I kept it off for 4 years and over the last two years I have been gaining for various reasons and need to get focused again. Moving from the Northeast to Puerto Rico has equated to me really enjoying "island life" a bit too much I think!
I, like Julie, show/train dogs and I am also an Equestrian so not only do I need to loose weight and be healthy for myself but also for my four-legged children.
I did a clean induction in January and for the most part have stayed true except for a few days here and there. I have also been back to working out at the gym 5 days a week since January 12th. For the most part I have done well but I find myself slipping down that slippery carb slop if I go off plan for one day (or one meal for that matter) and I hope this list can give me some accountability.
I did just have my blood work done and my Cholesterol is a bit high (Total 215). I don't have the numbers before me but my good cholesterol is excellent but my bad cholesterol is a little high. Everything else was fine.
I have been following this site since December and find so much motivation from all of you - I read the STAC posts every day and feel like I know you all even though I have been a lurker
So here I am - I need to start posting and need to do a clean induction all over again. We have company arriving tomorrow and so I may or may not have much time to post over the next week but I didn't want to put off joining for yet another week.
Thank you all for having me here!
Jessica

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Jessica, welcome to the group.
So, I am checking in today - but dont have the greatest news to report. This weather has gotten the best of me. I have slipped yet again. I know this is not what I should be posting.
Hubby was up and gone early this morning... and the drive way was still a mess from blowing. I volenteered to clear it out myself today & to get the kids ready all by 6:30AM...needless to say there was not time to take care of the really important things...myself and my food. - I cheated and went to McDonalds. There I said it.
Here is one good thing I do have to report though... Since starting my journey in Jan. I have saved a ton of money. I checked my bank statement from back in Dec. and the fast food places and chinese places that I frequented were many... in the 200.00 range at least. This past month I checked my bank statement and there is only 40 dollars that went to fast food. How cool is that. (Both items were for kids meals) I thought that was so cool.

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Good morning STACers! And welcome to our forum, basketball and Jessica!
It's cold here again and my dd, dgd and I are going shopping and also checking out a new quilter's shop so I will be away for awhile. When we get into places like that, we tend to spend a lot of time!
Oh, welcome back, fldoodette! I haven't seen you around for quite some time.
Have a great day everyone!

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Glad to see alot more STACers around. I was on here in October and only a few people would check in.
It's always nice to see how everyone is doing so far. I have been doing Induction now for four days. Yesterday I felt horrible. Induction flu plus I'm sure a little die-off (I'm doing an Atkins Candida version of induction...so no cheese, vinegar or mushrooms as well as the other no-no's). I can tell this time is different because I am finding it easier to create new recipes for things I never would have done before. Last time I did this with basic recipes that I ate EVERY single day. YES it worked BUT......it was hard to keep going and food was no longer exciting. This time I get excited about what I'm going to try next. Mixing it up is definately the key to success. I feel better this morning so I am moving in the right direction. I even noticed I'm not as bloated anymore and my stomache seems flatter. I really think cheese and dairy really messed with me before.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FANTASTIC low CARB DAY!!!!

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
Welcome Jessica and basketball...
Norah, it's not nice to brag about needing A/C! Ok...just kidding, really, I 'm just jealous! It's been so cold here in the Pacific Northwest this last week...we even had some late season snow a couple of days.
Being disabled...I can't WAIT for this to pass! I slip and fall on dry surfaces, so ice scares the poo outa me! I'm also a little jealous that you got up and went to the gym so early in the a.m....*sigh*...that is my goal. Doesn't it feel great to get it out of the way so early in the day!
I'm on day 11. Made a new recipe last night that turned out ok but looked NOTHING like the photo on Linda's site. It was supposed to be cheese broccoli cassarole, but I added chicken to the recipe cuz I didn't think it had enough protein for a main dish. The "cheese" sauce was so thick that I couldn't mix it with the other ingredients...I basicly laid it over the top of the broccoli in hopes that it would melt down into the dish while in the oven. It didn't. It kinda had this gross roasted marshmellow look to it when I pulled it out of the oven. HOWEVER...it tasted all right....just looked gross.
I did NOT work out last night...and don't think I will get a chance to tonight. Grrrrr....scheduling is becoming a major issue. I really need to get out of bed at 5am!
Have a great LC day, ya'll!

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

Re: Roll Call 3/12/09
I weighed in today for my biggest loser competition...everyone else either lost 1 or gained this week, and I lost 2. That brings me to 29 pounds lost in the competition.
My weight listed at the bottom was my highest starting weight (in just a pair of mesh shorts) and my lowest weight (in just a pair of mesh shorts), so it shows a more drastic loss than my biggest loser competition. My goal now is to lose about 6-8 pounds before the contest is over in the first week of April. I'm going to try to be very strict and stay to around 20 or 25 carbs throughout.
As for the Elmo song, I woke up today Elmo free. I drove to school Elmo free....during the morning announcements a teacher I work with asked the principal to play the Elmo song over the PA system. Needless to say, I'm la la la laing through my day now...again!
