I see some of you have little weight to lose and/or are not metabolically resistant (if you haven't done this already, you can find your metabolic resistance using the charts in Ch. 13 of DANDR). For you, Dr. Atkins considered it is more appropriate to move to OWL rather than do Induction for more than two weeks. Below are a few excerpts from the DANDR 2002.

          From Ch. 13:
If you do not have much weight to lose, it is advisable for you to advance to OWL so you can cycle through all the phases of the program.
Although Induction offers plenty of advantages, there are lots of reasons for progressing: boredom with the food choices, modest weight loss goals (say 20 or 30 lbs) and perhaps the chance to avoid becoming dependent on a "crash diet" mentality.
          From Ch. 17:
Misconception: You can just continue to do Induction until you lose all of your weight.
Reality: You will lose weight more quickly if you continue doing Induction, but you won't learn how to keep that weight off permanently if you don't move through the four phases. More important, you will miss out on the benefits of the phytochemicals present in health-promoting carbohydrate foods.

Yes thank you for this information. You see I was on the induction and then I went to the next phase - I lost a total of 13 pounds and 12 of those were in the first 2 weeks. My wt is just not coming off and I do plan on going onto the next phase - but is been 7 weeks since I started Atkins and I am just not seeing any lost.

Total lost in 7 weeks 13 pounds
and my wt right now is 199 - I want to get down to 175

I just noticed you have another thread in this forum. I'll ask you some questions there, not to hijack this thread.

New here - just joined yesterday. I'm a low carber most of the time but I've been on vacation for a couple of weeks, and that includes vacation from diet.
I'm all over induction for October - what a great idea!!

Re: Induction Marathon - great idea!!

I'm staying on Induction for a couple months, not only to help me boost my weight loss up a bit during that period but so that I can truly get the hang of low-carbing. I have always had trouble once I move on to the other rungs, so I'm sticking with Induction until it becomes more of a WOL than a diet. Once October is over I'll see about moving to the next phase.
