  • Ugghhh

I'm a second timer and plan on keeping it off. I know we all say that. Day 5 of induction and no weight loss yet I need to lower my portions I guess, stop eating till Im full or because in bored. Old habits. Eating mostly eggs, meats, small amounts of cheese and veggies. I know it will come off, just frustrating.

Try eating mostly Induction vegetables and smaller amounts of everything else!

Are you drinking all your water?

Small amounts (handful) raw spinach and iceberg lettuce.

YES!! Going to the bathroom about every half hour. I little tip to help you remember to drink your water, put a cup next to the sink, when your done peeing, reload.

Doubtful that's giving you "most" of your daily net carbs from Induction vegetables!

I find that I don't lose unless I bulk up my veggies. Don't know why but that's what I've found. I'm not a big salad fan so try and sneak veggies in to my meals more instead or if I have a salad I opt for more other veggies instead of lettuce. If you cook a recipe that has veggies in it, try increasing the amounts a bit. Shouldn't mess with the final dish.
Just a few ideas to sneak more in:
Add chopped toms, mushrooms, peppers to eggs in the morning
Decrease the amount of lettuce in your salads and add more cucumbers, avocado, olives, toms, etc instead. That's the good stuff anyway!
How about eating sauteed onions/mushrooms on top of your steaks
Throw more veggies in to a stir fry
Snacks - add some cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, etc

                >>So more veggies??>>

                Yep.

Pepperoni is pretty processed ... and has sugar.

What's the list of ingredient in the caesar dressing?

Did you make the Taco salad? What was in the seasoning?

You're way over on the limit of sweetener (pepperoni, the charizo, the gum, the Diet Rite).

Did you have 125 ounces of water?

As you know, Dr. Atkins advises against "processed" foods ... and you're having a lot of pepperoni. If you're having ham and the charizo (also processed), you might want to avoid pepperoni on those days.

Maybe only having one processed meat a day would be a good goal?

Do you know how many net carbs you had in total? How many of them were Induction vegetables?

                  Also, what's in the charizo?
I know here (NM) that most I've found have sugar added! I have only found one brand that doesn't add sugar or nitrates.

I think if you get rid of the processed meats (pepperoni, chorizo, ham, etc.) you will notice a difference right away. Those babies have a ton of sodium and are notorious for water retention.

Other suggestions would be to have more veggies (other kinds besides lettuces), have some fat and veg with breakfast and watch the gum and soda intake. Soda & gum are not your friends so use sparingly.

Looks like you're off to a good start though. Like I mentioned, if you get rid of the processed meats or at least cut them way down, I think you'll be pleased with the results.

I love chorizo, but I never thought about putting it in taco salad. What a great idea. Thanks Wave.
Your menu looks great. When you look at the carbs on a package of food, also check out the ingredients as you might see corn syrup, wheat flour, etc etc. Just put it back on the shelf carefully. LOL. The carbs may be listed as 0 but they lie.
I have found that Hebrew Nation brand is pretty good and so is Boars Head when your buying processed meat.

(some chorizo is processed, but you can also find it freshly made in grocery stores that cater to Hispanic clients and all it is is pork/spices

A third "yes" for more vegetables.

Also, measure your vegetables properly instead of going by "handfuls". It's a good idea to measure your other foods, too.

In the US, if the carbs are below 0.5 g, they are rounded to 0.

The list of ingredients is important, too... not only the carbs.

                              piece of stride gum
Is there a reason why you chew gum... other than habit?

from sugar alcohol so that zeros its self out?
What sugar alcohols are in it?

Most sugar alcohols do have an effect on one's blood sugar... so counting them as "zero" is incorrect.

Sweeteners are limited to 3 packets/servings daily. If a food has any kind of sweetener added, each serving of it counts as one serving of sweetener. As J. pointed out, you are over your sweetener limit.

                              2 boiled eggs - 2.5
Unless these were mammoth chicken eggs, a boiled egg does not have 1.25 net carbs.

What are you using to track your net carbs?

handful of raw spinach w/ 1 slice chicken, ham, cheese. caeser dressing - 8
                              8???

How many net carbs are in the dressing? What are its ingredients?

pepperoni, piece of cheese - 2
How many ounces does a "piece of cheese" have?

And what kind of cheese did you have?

taco salad. hamburger, charizo, seasoning, shreaded cheese, lettuce. on a big plate but not heaping. 2 cups lettuce maybe and 1/2 cup meat. couldnt finish it. - 8
Unless there is a lot of sugar in the seasoning and chorizo, I doubt the carb counts are correct.

Over half of your daily net carbs should come from vegetables. You can use FitDay to keep track of them: FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal. FitDay will give you total carbs and dietary fiber, so to find net carbs you subtract dietary fiber from total carbs.
