There are just 8 of us so it is going to look obvious if I don't drink any wine and if I pick all my fish off my rice...What a dilemna...I can't offend, but darn it, I have been so good about NOT cheating at all...Haven't touched a drop of alcohol although I WAS a "weekend drinker" with the occasional glass of wine at the end of the working day . Any "politically correct" ways to get me through this? Or forgiveness for transgressing? (LOL- think the forgiveness will come from ME if it has to)...

Tell them you're dieting and not drinking. The truth shall set you free.
Tell them and move on with dinner.
    SAY YOU PREFER SASHIMI!

It sounds like you're excited about the sushi-grade fish, but without the pointless rice-filler

    Sashimi is awesome.

Or say, "just the sashimi for me please, I'm not a fan of rice" and say you're taking a break from drinking.

Everyone at my work, as soon as I order food, they're like, "That's what you're eating??" or "Is that gonna fill you up?" <-my steak I ate yesterday without a side And, I just tell them, "Yeah, I'm on Atkins." I don't feel like making up excuses for why I'm eating healthy... I'd rather be honest and save the bs and then in a couple months when their mouths are dropping, give Atkins credit and be like, "remember? I told you... Atkins."

I like the 98.75% of the time, T.J. This is one of those times where the scale is going to call me even more because I won't know how much "damage" I have done...But on the other hand, I will have time to "undo" any damage by the 26th!
Congrats for your bravery with the pasta! Let us know the final results of the experiment!

Hey Plsmachic! I fully intend to have Sashimi (I LOOOOOOOOOVE Sashimi and often make it at home). I just don't know what the set-up will be at his house...Hopefully it'll be like a buffet...And I can always have 1 glass of white wine then put water in my glass and no-one will be the wiser! LOL!

Guekjian, I used the same logic last night with my wife. She is doing South Beach and very successfully. She is certain that Atkins will kill me and has never agreed with it. She is down 10 pounds and couldn't resist a cheeseburger and fries last night. I made her a turkey burger with a whole wheat bun and jicama fries. After that she hit the captain crunch before bed and felt bad. I told her basically what I told you and she is doing great again today. Just had to get it out of her system I guess.

Anyway, I am now 4 hours past the pasta, and I am having a bowl of super fiber chili for lunch. All appears to be normal. I am making Thai Curry chicken for dinner over a bed of riced cauliflower.

With my wife doing South Beach and me doing Atkins it seems like I'm always cooking. Three separate dinners almost every day. One for me, one for her, and one for the kiddies. Sometimes everyone can eat the same things though. Good thing I like cooking. The grocery bills have been a bit insane lately. I bet we hit $900 this month.

Yikes. I think though you'll go down on the grocery bills, SB is kind of like Atkins, but more of a low fat version, and they are liberal with the carbs after phase 1. My husband loves the SB. I think its a good diet, but more towards maintenance.

My husband is in the Army. We live in an Army town, and we have fast food places, and chain restaurants down the strip and up the strip on the highway. I find that Atkins for me living down south is a bit more challenging. When we were in Connecticut, people seemed to watch their weight more.

Hi everyone, weighed in today down 3 pounds since that three day ago gain of 5. I am a little exasperated in myself. I know what I need to do and should get my act together. Have a great weekend everyone.

Good evening everyone, Been a while since I posted. I read a lot of your posts though. I just don't have time very often. Yesterday was day 14 and so today I began OWL. I feel good and am so motivated. 7 lbs down! Today was a good day. My Saints won! My kids behaved (hubby too) and the kitchen is clean so I am relaxing. I hope you all have a great evening. God bless

Just reporting folks...On the down side, I drank the equivalent of 3 glasses of wine...on the up side, I was lucky to have another low-carber there tonight who asked them to bring back Sashimi for her, so I told the people getting the food that I wanted Sashimi too because I could not eat the rice. Of course there was a miss anorexic who had the nerve to tell me "oh but sushi is good on a diet" so I told her, "Maybe so, but not on MY program, so I'll stick with the Sashimi". She ignored me after that...no big loss...Anyways, I feel like tonight went much better than I had feared and tomorrow, I will do some extra exercise and extra water to compensate as much as I can! Good night all!
