  • The Jolly Mon Bass Success Story

55 lbs lost in 5 months I am living proof it can be done.

I had wanted to get back to my optimum weight for a several years now. Each year of working a desk job had added 5 extra pounds a year to my body. This added up until I was 230 lbs.

I always stayed active but that never really did anything for my ever gaining weight. I tried cutting back on all foods, doing the Cabbage Soup diet, the Hollywood Diet and nothing did anything other than take off about 15 lbs which I promptly put back on.

Then I started to research the Atkins diet in late Oct. 2003 I read the book and determined to give it a try beginning Dec 1. 2003.

About mid November I stumbled upon this place and saw all the pictures of people really doing it and I read the support everyone gave each other.
I knew that if these people could do it so could I, especially with a support group like I found here.

It's been 5 months now and I have met and exceeded my goal weight. I feel better than I have in years, my bloodpressure is way down, my asthma has disappeared and I have tons of energy.

My advice to anyone wanting to lose weight no matter how much, this life is the way to go.

    1. read Dr. Atkins book.... don't even start without it.
    2. get plugged in here and read and take the advice of veteran Atkineers.
    3. Don't give up.
    4. Stick with it even after attaining your goal.

Thank you to all my friends here on the ADBB.

If anyone has any specific questions for me I will attempt to answer them.

Thank you Bren, you Doll of an Administrator you...

It's nice to know I haven't worn out my welcome yet.

I feel like after people get the advice they need from all the capable folks in the various threads, they can come visit Jollyland for a little sillyness... and Jolly worship of course.

Am I hot or what? Thanks to Dr. Atkins and his children.

Just got done drilling the recruits and had some time to bop over here. Actually, I followed the bread crumbs you dropped in Chit Chat.

Jolly, what a ride! You did it and had fun along the way. Too many people get so caught up with themselves they miss out on the pleasure of new friendships.

I'm proud to call you friend.

Just a teasing remark, Coop don't turn red..... In other words it's nice to have some testosterone in the house to bond with in addition to all the estrogen.

                          It's all good.

I'm sure Jolly would agree that both of our rides would have been dull without our cyber babes!

Quotes from The Man From Snowy River:

Rosemary Hume: Male company will be a pleasant relief in this hothouse of female emotions.
Jim Craig: I think they're trying to make a butler out of me.
Jessica Harrison: They're trying to make a lady out of me.
Jim Craig: Well, they won't have no luck.
Jessica Harrison: Thank you very much!
Jim Craig: Now hold on, I didn't mean...
Jessica Harrison: I don't suppose they'll have any luck making a gentleman out of you, either.

LET ME MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR.... I LOVE THE WOMEN ON THIS BOARD! Where would Jolly Mon be without you?
