      Re: 100 gone!

      Hello Everyone!

I appreciate the support I got here so much, so I thought it was time for an update. I can now say I'm down 120 pounds! I got caught in a HUGE stall, which makes my goal of losing 200 pounds by August unrealistic. I'm so terribly sad about that. August is my one year mark. I am setting a new goal of 160 gone.

So, I was stalled for over a month! No weight, no inches. I was eating on plan and exercising regularly. I finally broke through, here is how I did it.

      FRUITS AND VEGETABLES!!

It wasn't exactly Atkin's, but it worked. I didn't even mean for it to break the stall. I was actually doing a detox, and I thought I would gain weight because I was introducing tons of fruit (carbs) to my diet. I went on the cleansing detox of nothing but raw fruits and vegetables nad purified water (calcium and protein suppliments were taken of course) and within the first 3.5 days, I was down 12 pounds! Needless to say I am still on the detox. Today is day 5, and I want to go to nine.

It was so good to know that despite what I've read, I will in fact be able to eat carbs again and still lose weight. It probably has to do with what carbs you eat. I know I can't go back to soda and refined sugar/grains, but I can eat tons of fruit and whole wheats and still lose. To be honest, I lose quicker doing no/low fat than I do on Induction. It's also a refreshing change after awhile. The idea of a huge plate of watermelon, cantelope, and strawberries is much more appealing than a huge steak, grilled shrimp, and brocolli and cheese. I think I am going to switch inbetween the two for the duration of the diet.

The thing I loved most about the detox experience was my water weight. I was sure that water was all of the 12 pounds I lost, but my water weight actually rose drastically (I've always been below average), my lean muscle mass increased, and my % of body fat plummeted.

I tried to change the name of the thread to 120 gone, but I was unable too. When I hit 160 gone, I will start a newer thread.

Look for new before and after pictures at the end of the month/beginning of next month! I want to fit into my 36 jeans and my L shirt first.

Dorr, you before and after pictures are wonderful -- what an amazing difference! And, I'm glad you found a way to break through your stall. While not 100% kosher (per Dr A), I think it's a great example of the good carbs at work!

Looking forward to hearing about your continued success!

Congrats! That's awesome. Although you said it wasn't a big deal, but could you have imagined 100 lbs lost, gone, melted, a year ago? I bet not.

Great job! Thanks for the advice.
