  • 4 week up-date

I have been dieting low carb for a month now and it has been difficult at times so difficult, that I cheated for four days straight. I feel horrible I can't believe that I didn't have enough self control. It was my daughters sixth birthday and I couldn't resist the Baskin Robbins ice cream cake and the Red Lobster cheese biscuits. After the cake and biscuits it was a consistent binge for four days. I felt so guilty that I couldn't even weigh myself.
On the fifth day I started the induction phase and weighed myself today for the first time since the binge and now I'm at a total of 17 pounds down. However, I can't stop feeling guilty about the cheating. I have worked so hard to loose the weight that I have lost. I just can't stop thinking of how much weight I would have actually lost if I would have just past on the cake. Does any one have any advice?

You've already done most of what you can do - you've gotten back on the horse! Try to think if there was anything you might have done differently that might have helped you resist temptation...for next time. I have to admit - ice cream & Red Lobster biscuits both sound pretty tempting - a coping strategy would definitely be required if I was going to be exposed to them.

I know how you feel. I started the diet and 10 days later, I had a craving that was deadly....well, couldn't help myself. I had a gosh darn Butterfinger Blizzard, and after that it all went downhill. I have been on a constant roll for 2 days now. So tommorow, back on the wagon I hop.

When you have cravings have a large glass of water - then get up and do something to get your mind off of whatever you are craving. It's 14 days for induction -- after that you can start adding other things back in to your daily meals. You have put junk into your mouths all these years, now it's time to buckle down and no cheat. Instead of ice cream cake you could have softened some cream cheese and added vanilla or cinnamon to make a sweet treat.

Get back on plan and move around when you think you're going to cave into temptation. You have to decide if you want to cheat everytime life comes along, or learn to be stronger than whatever is in front of you. Good luck to both of you.

Like Julie said, you've done the hardest to get back on the wagon. You've done great with losing the 17lbs and holding yourself accountable by posting your cheats. I also liked Imagood1 advice, taking something you can have and turning it into something that you want or close to it!

Again i say congrads on the 17 and stay focus on the good and not the bad!

17 pounds is such a good weight to lose!! I'd focus on that next time you are tempted although sometimes its easier said than done.

I am constantly tempted by adverts on the TV - I went through an addiction to Chilli Dorito's and literally have to turn the TV over if I see them. I went to a lunch meeting the other day and knew there would be temptations that I couldnt eat so I made myself eat two boiled eggs before going in and they really make you feel full so I wasn't tempted at all. So thats my advice - make sure your full before the temptation appears! Good luck xx
