    Hey Sheila,

Welcome to ADBB. I was so thrilled this morning to see you posting here. I stumbled upon your site www.sugarfreesheila.com a couple of months ago and was so inspired by it. I know I mentioned it over here in one of my posts a while back. Check it out gang. She's done an awesome job of it.

Yes, that is an excellent site. I found it back when I was researching Atkins and it played a huge part on inspiring me to do this. Welcome aboard Sheila! It's awesome to see you here! :joy

yes, she has done a great job but I feel that the comment in her opening page that mentions how she "effortlessly" lost her weight is not true and obviously she worked very hard with working out etc. Atkins is not so easy to stay on there is much effort but is definately do-able as she and all posted here can attest to. But it does take effort in everything from making sure you are consuming the right type of carbs to finding hidden carbs in foods and oh yeah, how about eating out? She makes it sound like she has will power and drive no one else has which is why I think she could be a little more realistic and humble.. She has worked hard and it shows but she did not do it "effortlessly'

I believe that I did applaud her on all her efforts but there WAS effort make no mistake. I have used her site for inspiration also. I really enjoy how I can go there in just a few days and see a new picture she is obviously very proud of her new body. It keeps me motivated.

This topic was over 1 year old, Masonmd; out of curiosity, why today, over a year later, did you dig this up?

I find SFS to be a great inspiration, and I recall off the toop of my head without going to site, her stating she walks on treadmill and did abs for dummies. I know she switched it up some and did other work too. As far as the meal plan, she does seem to have that, and cravings under control, and it very much seems effortless to HER.

                      YEAH Sheila!!! You Rock!!!

Welcome to our ADBB family, mason
Actually I think you might have misread the phrase on her page about 'effort' - it reads
keeping it off effortlessly since 2001
I know I have found that now I have been Atkineering for several years it really doesnt take much effort to stay on track.
Maybe that is what Sheila meant?
I am now used to making most of my meals from scratch, so dont feel I am making any special 'effort' when I spend a couple of hours at the weekend cooking ahead to prepare 'legal' snacks to have on hand during the week.
I know what I can eat and not gain, my friends and family are used to my 'odd' way of eating and are proud of me and so I dont have to struggle against the 'just one bite wont hurt you' wellmeaning comments to stay on track.
How is your own Atkins adventure going, Mason? Have you been on the WOE for a while or are you starting out?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Welcome to ADBB Sheila! Check out her site guys!

I have been on Atkins off and on for years I had been folllowing strict Atkins until about a month ago when I went to my doc to have all the usual labs drawn including 12 hr fasting cholesterol I am a doctor myself and I was just curious how this after being on Atkins again very strict for since December was affecting my cholesterol HDL, LDL and triglycerides. Well, my total cholesterol is 256!!! My LDL 166 and triglycerides 81 so I have been off Atkins since the first of August and I have lost 8 pounds keeping a food journal, excercising daily and counting calories. I have a very positive family history of heart disease,. I just don't think this diet is for everyone,. especially those with strong family histories of heart disease etc.. When people show a cholesterol level on their web site it does'nt prove or disprove anything. Cholesterol levels are very very individual and genetic dependent . I have patients who exercise, eat low fat, low cholesterol and what not and still have heart attacks. Oh, yeah I lost 17 pounds since December but at what cost, I will never know. I am sorry it didn't work for me but for those it does without the side effects, I say whatever works for them. Kudos!!

                              Curious about many things Mason?
What phase of Atkins did you have your first testing done? Then what phase where you in with the second testing?

In the book Dr. Atkins states that if you have been following Atkins for some time and your cholesterol levels have not come down, then something else is going on.

Have you been exercising the entire time?
Alot to consider when making the statements you made.
Are or where you consuming alot of processed meats/cheeses etc.?
Did you move out of induction?

I am bringing this up so no one gets confused/scared etc.
