  • DAY 1!

Hey guys! Yesterday I just started day 1 of the induction phase. Here is what I ate (didn't start until lunch, had to go grocery shopping so I won't include my carb filled muffin I had for breakfast) Please give me input and tell me what you think! Anything I need more or less of?

    Lunch:
small salad (almost 1 cup?) with spinach, romaine, and mozerella (no dressing)
small piece of grilled fish covered in garlic butter
    7 cheese cubes

Dinner: 3 egg omelette with grilled chicken, spinach, tomato, onion, and cheddar cheese

snack: cheese cubes (my jello wasnt ready yet! heh)

    total net carbs: 13NC

      Not bad.

Why did you skip salad dressing? Atkins is a high fat diet. So a fat-based salad dressing is fine to have.

Also, did you measure your veggies. Tomatoes and onions are on the "other vegetable" list and are limited to 1 cup daily IF your "salad" veggies do not exceed 2 cups.

About the cheese cubes, I'm not sure how much they weighed but you are limited to 3-4 ounces of cheese daily. So you'll need to weigh/read the serving size on the package.

Sugar free jello---as long as it doesn't contain aspartame, you can eat it. But if eating sugary/carby things is what made you fat in the first place, you might want to consider removing their lookalikes from your diet.

thanks! Umm the reason I skipped dressing? I don't really like dressing on my salads, I prefer them as dry as possible..I know I'm weird. The onions and tomatos are the only veggies I am getting besides the spinach and romaine, which are all I use on my salads. I am currently trying to open myself up to new veggies, I used to hate them all, but recently added onions, spinach, and tomatos to my will eat list. And I wasn't eating that much, maybe 2 slices worth of tomato, and 2 slices of onion (i chopped them up though). Yeah I think I need to watch the cheese cubes. I have always been a very picky eater...anything that wasn't starchy or full of carbs I never liked. So I am slowly getting into better habbits.

          Okay.

It's good you're opening yourself up to more veggies. You'll find some veggies make suitable replacements for potatoes, etc.

haha funny you say that...potatos were actually the only veggie I have ever been crazy about (since last week when i forced a bunch of new ones down my throat and realized they werent too bad)
What are these potato substitutes you speak of? I would like to try some! I am clueless when it comes to produce shopping/cooking.

People cut up cauliflower and put it in a blender and puree it I believe...There is a recipe here somewhere with that. Johnny

Turnips can be cut and made into "Fries". Or shredded and cooked like hash browns.

Radishes can be made into hash brownes as well.

Celeriac/celery root can be cut into fries or made into chips.

The potato subs on the Induction food list are turnips, cauliflower, kolhrabi roots, radishes, daikon (a white Asian radish), celery root/celeriac.

Pumpkin puree easily subsitutes as mashed sweet potato.
