Hello all. Ive decided to give this a try. Ive spent all morning reading over different posts etc and hope and pray that this will work for me. Im going to be starting the induction phase tomorrow. I still feel confused about some of this but i printed out the allowed foods list and the rules for induction so i will have them handy. I do have one question, im an avid coffee drinker and pepsi drinker...i can do decaf thats not a problem, but is decaf even allowed? And if it is, is diet soda ok? I know aspartame isnt good, but i think there are some diet sodas out now with splenda. Not sure tho. Coffee will be my hardest Any suggestions from avid coffee drinkers on how to give that up? Or maybe ways i can still enjoy it?? Any suggestions would be helpful! And to all of you all that have lost with this ....a great big congrats to you!!! I am sooo encouraged by seeing everyones results.

When I tried to get off caffiene, I first mixed 1/2 decaf and 1/2 regular. Drank that for a couple of weeks, then went to total decaf. You do have to watch it that the stuff in decaf does not make your weight loss stop.

Personally I am at the point were I quit coffee all together. It turns out that now that I am not getting the caffiene jolt, it is just a habit of actually making the coffee in the morning and enjoying the warmth of it going down.

I would give up all drinks except water. If you absolutly must have a soda, choose Diet Rite (any flavor) and limit to 1 or 2 per day. We must watch the Splenda intake making sure its not more that 2-3 servings per day. However, you must drink ALL of your water per day in addition to your choice to drink Diet Rite.

Again, If you see that your weight loss has stopped, get rid of the sodas. Some people are very sensative.

    Welcome to ha

Just speaking from experience you will maximize your effort and your success if you just give up caffiene and anything with any kind of sweetener for Induction.
Remember this is just for the 2-week "induction" phase...you can have that stuff later as long as it doesn't affect your weight loss.

Some people may disagree but it's better to try it without and get some results than try it with and wonder "what could have been."

I totally agree! I am on Day 9 now....I didn't think I could give up the sugar free stuff at first...but I did, and I have zero sweet cravings. And at least for me, diet sodas just don't quench my thirst the way water does.

I have to agree totally with the advice these atkineers have given you.

A clean induction will give you the best results. This is for 14 days. you can do it.

            Welcome :wave ,

I do not drink coffee, but then again, I never in my life have. I can't stand the smell of it. So, that eliminated that problem for me. The only soda I ever drank was diet anyway, so that didn't bother me either.

But, I would add as much water in as you can in place of the soda and then if you still need them, have a can at lunch or dinner-pick one meal. Eventuall you get used to the water. I drink a gallon or so a day and usually grab it instead of soda, now.

Just FYI, though. If you do not like Diet Rite, Diet 7 up and diet sprite are also made with splenda now and caffeine free, just like Diet Rite. Diet COke, too, but it is not caffeine free.

I think try the water and a can or so a day and then you can decide from there. It is not as hard as it seems.

Good luck and add in some exercise every day and you will do great
