  • Still No Change...help.

    Hello all,

I haven't posted much in the past week or so because I just wanted to stop whining and wait for result. Tomorrow (Monday) makes 4 weeks on Atkins and I am still at 263lbs. I did measure myself and I see a difference in the size of my waist and upper torso. Generally I feel ok. I have increased my exercise to 3 miles in the morning and sometimes 3 additional miles in the evening. I say sometimes because her in Germany it is just scorching hot and I can't workout in the weather. I don't have an alternative to walking currently. I am working on getting some workout dvds to help.

I am not sad like I was before. I am more determined. I really want to lose this _*&^*$%(&@#^%$* weight. I need the help of you guys. I hve done all I know how to do and still nothing. I have eaten less red meat and more chicken. We are grilling out almost every day for dinner. I am eating 1 or 2 muffins for breakfast (bacon, egg and cheese in muffin tin broiled). I usually have a salad with greens, cucumbers, avacado and almonds with oil and vinegar dressing for lunch. For dinner my hubby grills chicken, salmon (havnt eaten just him and the kids), steaks and ribs. I allow myself a snack sometimes which is a couple of pecans or a popsicle (carbsolution 5 carbs, 0net) I haven't had many of those. Just found them 2 days ago. I can do with out them, but they fit the 20 carb a day thing.

Now I am willing to do what ever it takes. Can someone suggest a menu (one that I can afford with food easily found here in Germany). I need a buddy. I will talk to you every day and tell you every single morsel I put in my mouth, my emotions, the whole nine. I will tell you my daily activity. Perhaps I am missing something.

I will be going back to the states on July 15. I have about 21 days. I would really like to be at 250 or less by then.

Please help me. Those of you who have had success or want to be my buddy. Please help. My personal email address is csimonerivers@aol.com. I check it every day. Feel free to email me.

Praying for a change...working toward a new me.

    Are you measuring yourself?

      Yes I measured

I measured a couple of weeks ago, but when I remeasured I wasn't sure if I was forcing myself to see a change. I did notice a slight difference in the dress I wore to church this morning...It just looked better on me.

        Hi Simone

Have you read the book yet? I think you should, because I know you want it so bad, but it doesn't seem like you understand the "rules" Those highlighted are no no's during induction! This is probably why you are not losing..

        Main keys:

        -Read the book
-Follow the rules..no pecans or popsicles
-Drink 64 ounces of water PLUS another 8 ounces for every 20LBS you want to lose
        -EXCERCISE!!!

Without these keys you will probably not see any results... Like I said I know you want it so go and get it... :hug

I am sure someone else will add more to this... Enjoy your new way of life!

Sirine has given you the best advice. Everything she mentioned will help you.
You need to read the book, Dr. Atkins NEw Diet Revolution, 2002 edition. This is so important for you to understand how it all works. You need to follow the induction list.

I do want to add that you will have better results if you snack on real foods, like hard boiled eggs, raw veggies. We call popsicles, frankenfoods. Frankenfoods will cause stalls. Artificial sweetners cause stalls in some folks too. This could be part of your problem. In some people avocados can cause stalls, it does for me.

You are going to be successful after you have read the book and understand the rules. You are going to succeed on this journey. I can tell you are determined and have your mindset made for success.

PM me anytime. I am here to help you, just like all the rest of our atkineer family.

          Happy Low carbing

Send a note when you'd like. I also check my mail everyday.

In general, aside form what everyone else said, I try to haev protein and vegetables mixed. SO, for example, I haev tuna and cucumbers for breakfast. Lunch is usually chicken or something (steak, porkchops) with chopped up vegetables, nor necessarily lettuce. I like red peppers and jicima. maybe a piece of cheese. Dinner, I try to always have omelettes on week days. I make some kind of cheese and protein mix in the filling. Then, some vegetables and blue cheese dressing.

I do get in water all day and have exercise tapes.

If you cannot get out and walk around, you can do somethign simple in house without tapes. Stretches, jumping jacks, sit ups...lift weights with cans of vegetables!

But, you know..if you are feeling better and measurements are coming out better, then it is working for you. Give it some more time. Good luck

              The book

              thank you all...

I have read the book a few times. I haven't picked it up in a few years. Last night I stayed up until 2 in the morning reading it. I read the RULES of induction again. I did follow those rules when I was on induction. If you look you will see that I was on my FOURTH week. I wasn't on induction at that point. That is why I added the nuts and the popsicle.

Today I started over. INDUCTION for 2 weeks. I walked a 5K this morning (3.3miles) in just under an hour. I had 50lz of water already and it is just 11am. I had 2 scrambled eggs in 1/2 Tsp of butter with salt and pepper for breakfast. My lunch plans are up in the air, but probably a salad with tuna.

I am going to do 3 meals a day as opposed to small meals throughout. That works better for me. For dinner I plan to have brocolli with butter and seasoning and salmon or chicken. Not sure jsut not what I have a taste for.

I am not going to have bacon or make the desserts for 2 full weeks. I can avoid splenda (although my success came while using equal in 1999) and the popsicles and the rest. I still want a buddy to share all of my ins and outs with to avoid boring the entire board.

Like I said before, I had read the book in 1999. I coudln't find the one that I had then. I read on called Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution Completely updated. I noticed that in this one he recommends exercise, in the one I had before, he did not recommend it so strongly. He said it wasn't necessary I believe. No matter...I do exercise 5 days a week, roughly 16.5 miles per week. On the weekends I bowl or do some walkign around the cities in Germany. So I beleive I am pretty darned active. Oh and I have a 2 year old and a 10 year old. I have to be active!

Ok...that is my plan. I would love a buddy to talk to to help me along. PM me if you are interested.

since you aren't on induction are yu going through the runs properly? Nuts are not on the first rung, that's where the veggies go! You might be a severly metobolically resistant person...maybe try the fat fast diet and see if you have any results? A lot of times the pounds take a while to come off,b ut you will see the change in inches...one day though, you'll start dropping like crazy! I am the other way around...no inches lost, but almost 20 pounds....I know it's a little depressing.

I have found fitday really useful, for counting the carbs and for checking I am eating enough calories. If you don't eat enough calories you won't lose weight. Also you can post your menu and get feedback on what you are eating. Don't despair, this will work for you too, you are too motivated for it not too. I had doubts and couldn't seem get to losing until like suddenly its happening!

Are you eating ENOUGH? I weigh 218 and my minimum calorie intake is supposed to be around 1650 - 1700 per day. Yours should be more....so two eggs for breakfast just isn't a real meal.

If you aren't eating enough, you simply will not lose.

A good breakfast might be three or four eggs, some veggies, perhaps bacon.

A good lunch would involve fish or chicken, salad veggies, a good high fat dressing, and/or some cheese.

A good dinner would be meat or fish, more veggies, more fat.

I personally eat about 5 meals per day to get to my bmr.

But listen, you are doing SO well on the exercise!!!!!!! That is magnificent!
