  • Extremely Discouraged!!!

I am now on my 14th day of induction. Have followed it exactly. No cheating and I did not lose, but gained two pounds my second week. I lost 7 lbs my first week. I walk 3 miles a day at least 5 days a week. It makes me feel horrible. Yes, I have noticed some shrinkage in my waistline, but why did I gain 2 lbs vs. losing any at all?

Water weight. Water retention. Muscle gain.....who knows at this point? I can weigh 205 one day, and the next day weigh 208, and nothing has changed in the woe. THe following day, I may drop to 204, or 206.....and then back down some more. <Shrug> I refuse to let my progress be determined by that silly machine!!!!!

The fact is that your clothes are looser, which means that the inches are coming off.

Don't rely so much on the scale. It really isn't very accurate if you are trying to determine fat loss. The tape measure is better.

You lost 7lbs in one week? That's awesome! With all that walking you're bound to be putting on muscle...which weighs more...have you been measuring? Get out that tape measure and put away the scale for a least a month. The scale is not your friend right now...it never really will be. Measuring is the only accurate way to know how you're doing. Also...drink that water!! And keep the DANDR 2002 copy handy. Remember you didn't gain the weight overnight and it's not going to come off over night. There's a really good post someone made the other day...let me go find it.

Hang in there. I think you are doing great! The fact that your clothes are looser should tell you that you are on the right track. Remember Muscle weighs more than fat. And while it is hard not to look at the scale do take your measurements too! Don't give up!!!

            Re: Extremely Discouraged!!!

Thank you all of you!!! Thanks to you Rhonda for the article, it really helped. I will keep it and read it when I need the encouragement. I told my husband to hide the scales and not get it out again for a lengthy period. I will start measuring like you said. Again thanks. I feel a lot better. I do drink water. I am so thirsty on this diet, I can't get enough water to drink it seems. I always hated drinking water too.
Oh...and Rhonda, your pics are great. I am having trouble getting pics on my posts.
Thanks again to all. I will keep yous posted on my progress.
