  • Induction almost over, but ZERO RESULTS :(

Tired, Angry, Depressed. It has been 12 days into atkins for me, and ZERO RESULTS...I have followed the induction rules strictly, but it just wont work

    I had another thread 6 days in:http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=16903
Since then, I have changed my eating habits a bit. Less protein, more fat, more veggies.

Currently my meals are as so:

    Breakfast:Omlette consisting of 2 eggs, 1/4 cup tomato, 2 oz mozzarella/cheddar cheese

Early afternoon: One can of tuna with half cup lettuce, 2 tbs mayo

4-5pm: One cup of veggies consisting of spincah, broccoli, cucumbers.
One piece of hamburger w/ wishbone 0 carb ranch dressing

Dinner: One piece hamburger, 2 chicken legs, 1 tbs ranch dressing, half a cucumber

I also eat 4 metamusil pills a day for constipation, drink 5 16oz glasses of water, and run about 2 miles a day

YET, I get no results...I am so very confused
Does anyone ahve any advice, suggestions? Or is it time to try another diet?

I also read about a different style of atkins
1000 calories a day, 90% fat...is that for me? because this just isnt working for me

Well, to be honest, you only have 6 days of a clean induction under your belt. The first 6 days you weren't doing Atkins at all, but something else entirely.

Some people lose a ton in the first week and none the second. Some lose nothing the first and a bunch the second. Others spread the loss out over the two weeks.

I'd keep going if I were you. How much are you trying to lose overall? What is your BMR?

Also, the 1,000 90% fat thing is only if you are not in ketosis and have trouble getting into it. It is not a different kind of Atkins, but rather a special 3 day thing you can try if you haven't gotten into ketosis at all.

{{{{az}}}}} Hang in there, cutie patootie!

Did you know that we have an administrator at ADBB who only lost 60 pounds in one year? Weight doesn't come on overnight, and it takes time to lose it, too!

If you've started exercising, you'll find you might weigh more due to muscle mass.

Also, the metamucil might have carbs in it from sugars and starches... given a week your bodily functions right themselves with water, exercise and your 3 cups of veggies a day!

Your menu looks good to me. Keep it up and have patience and faith. It will happen for you!

You're making your colon lazy if you rely on pills to help you out. A couple of days won't kill you. A carb for 6 pills won't kill you. You're right. But the body adjusts and you'll be regular again in no time!

Finelly--we're probably talking about the same person! *LOL*

Re: Induction almost over, but ZERO RESULTS

the stuff in your pills is exactly what Dr Atkins recommended for constipation so in that you are doing great.

I hope you are actually dringking more then that as with your running in this weather you should be getting more water in there. have you been measuring yourself to see if you have lost inches of fat while eating your Atkins? Because of some very complicated bio chem reasons our bodies need to maintain shape so as the fats leave it stuffs the cells with fluids which are not as dense so inches go but pounds don't until the biochem interferrence from all the fluids is greater then our bodies can tolerate and they generate fluid releaseing chems and poof overnight what many weight loss folk call a visit from whooshie arives and suddenly those scales are pounds lighter then the day before even though you didn't do one darn thing different to cause such a dramic change.

Are you using one of the free online sites like www.fitday.com to track your foods and see if in fact you are eating enough fat for Atkins? 65% of your induction cals should be in the form of fats either from pure fats or mixed fat and protein foods.

Remember the expected loss for 14 days of clean induction eating and doing both the resistance and aerobic exercising is only 5-10 percent of the weight you need to lose do you are looking at a 1.75-3.5 pound loss for the full 7 days. You may get more you may get less as you may need more time to get the required body chems and sturctures built and going for efficient fat burning.

Are you taking your vits and supplements?

Also is it taking all that food to satisfy your hunger at the time you are eating it or have you decided I will eat that much at each meal and then doing so? One big thing newbies to Atkins have trouble with is stopping when they are not hungry even if there is food on the plate, room in their tummy and carbs in their budget. Stop and put the food away. you can come back and eat more as soon as you are hungry but be darn sure you are hungry and not thirsty as many folk mistake thirst because of the chem spillover in the brain reg areas for hunger. if you just eat within the last 2 rs drink a glass of water and wait 20 min if the hunger is gone you were not hungry just thirsty.

                Happy low carbing.

I am taking my multivitamins. I eat one centrum silver a day (even though I am 20). IT is the only one I found without iron. I think the only difference is lycopene.
Also, I am using fitday. I do not understand how to use it when I am dealing with homemade meats. How am i supposed to know how much fat/protein is int it.

With homemade meals, you insert the ingredients. So for example, for eggplant parmesan I insert the oz of eggplant and 2 tbspns of parmesan and 1 egg and olive oil.

Hey 2big...just wondering at your comment "Also is it taking all that food to satisfy your hunger at the time you are eating it.."

Do you think that is too much food??

Anz...can you post your stats for us? Start weight...Current weight...goal weight...height.....age...male or female. You can add it into your signature line so you only have to do it once. It will help people give you the right info for you.
Stick to the plan...you actually started Atkins when you started eating like you are now. Good luck and give it some time to work. And remember if you just started running that you may have lost weight and gained muscles...hope you remembered to take your measurements...sometimes the scale doesn't move but the inches do.

For some people is a big help not having cheesse, tomato, onion. If you dont find a mayo without sugar, make it yourself. Dont forget to take omega-3.
How do you feel your clothes?? Some people dont lose weight but measurements.

THROW OUT THE SCALE! Invest in a good tape measure instead! Scales lie.

Watch your sodium intake .. that causes water retention. Drink 1/2 your weight in ounces of water per day. Eliminate caffeine and aspartame (nutrasweet).

                              I am a 5'5" 20 yr old male. currently 195 lbs. Goal: 160

I do eat tomatoes, cheese, and onions...do you think i should stop eating those things? They really help keep my % fat up.

Also, my ranch dressing (CarbOptions) is sweetened with splenda. I eat atleast 3 tbs a day. My hellmans mayo says sugar in the ingred as well, but i do not use it much.

So do you guys think i should end the ranch dressing, mayo, tomatoes and cheese?

Because then i am going to have to find some new ways of finding fat.
