Im watching calories, carbs and now fat! Im sure Atkins was much easier the first time i did it and it worked faster.

My menu for today is as follow ( and i honestly dont deviate from it)
Break: 1 egg omelette with parsley ( 2 sprigs) 1 teaspoon butter
Lunch: 1 handful herb salad leaves and 75gr smoked mackerel 1 teaspoon olive oil
Snack:1 celery stalk and 1 tablespoon mayo
Dinner: salmon grilled with oliveoil 1 cup tinned aparagus 1 cup celery 1tablespoon mayo
    Pudding:coffee and cream

According to fitday im just on 76% how do i get this down and what is too high fat in my menu. Dont really want to cut back on the fats toom uch cause then i gt hungry.

Probably the tablespoons of mayo. Have half a tablespoon at each meal instead?

I keep telling you this - will you PLEASE listen?

      1. Add more veggies. That is not three cups. Adding the veggies will reduce the percentage of fat.

      2. Eat more snacks. You are not eating enough food. 1 stalk of celery is nothing. NOTHING! Add a devilled egg or a slice of turkey or something.

      3. One egg omelette is NOT breakfast. IT's a SNACK. Add a couple of eggs.

Very true Finelly, the more you eat calorie wise, the lower your percentage of fat will be!

How much are you trying to lose Savannah? It looks like you are 5'4" and 123 lb??

im trying to lose 5 pounds theoretically but i know without weighing when im comfortable and that should be around 116lb.

Finelly , if it will make you happy ( but im sure its gonna make me feel gluttonous) i will have two eggs tomorrow. I promise

And mama i understand that more calories lowers the fat but it also up the calories.

But from reading your posts i have decided to up the protein , more eggs , meats and less of the high fat foods. Lets see if that works shall we

            I agree...

I would bet that your protein amounts are too low if your fat is that high , that is not helping. . it's not jsut fat that makes you feel full, it's protein as well, . You should also not be counting calories on induction. Have you read the book? Eat only what is on the induction list, keep your %'s at 65/30/5, eat ALL of your daily allowed veggies. EAt until you are full, not stuffed. and when you are hugry EAT. do not starve yourself.

Also, now that i see your stats, at 5'4" and 123 lbs you should not be expecting to lose weight very quickly. What is your goal weight? i would suspect you are already fairly close to it. the closer you are..the longer it will take. It took me 4 months + to lose the last 10 lbs of my weight. You have to be patient. This is not a quick fix crash diet. it's is a new way of eating for life.

Savannah...it sounds to me like you need to re-read the chapters on Induction in DANDR and just refresh yourself on the Acceptable Foods list, and the Rules of Induction.
Learning about *how* the plan works is as important as learning what to eat on the plan. If you are basically following the rules, the fat/protein/carb and calorie count seem to pretty much take care of themselves...that's how Dr. Atkins planned it.
Because you are almost at goal, you should only be spending 2 weeks on Induction, and then you should immediately be progressing up the rungs of OWL, so go over those chapters (and check out the OWL forum here) as well. Staying on Induction is not recommended for people so very close to goal. You need to be learning how to eat for the rest of your life so you are ready to maintain when you do hit your goal.

I have a question, what are your protein and carb percentages? With fat at 75%, yit leaves only 25% from both protein and carb.

Protein on Atkins is about 30% of your daily caloric intake: it stays that way throughout the entire program. Protein in appropriate amounts will help to stabilize your blood sugar, like fat does. Which is why Dr. Atkins recommended that snacks be high fat or high fat and protein combinations. So if your protein is low, you need to increase it not only for the weight loss aspect of this diet, but also for your general health as well.

                  I DID IT GUYS!

Have been playing around with fit club and experimenting with different ingredients.

I have thrown in more protein for a snack in the form of roast beef, chucked out the extra mayo. Threw in a couple of olives for my dinner and voila- my fat count for the day will go down to 66% fat 5% carbs and 29 % protein.

                  WHOOP DEE DOO BASIL!!!!
                  Man thats hard!

Suppose now would be a good time to ask if its ok to eat olives in induction, according the book it is , but the book and the way you guys do stuff does seem to differ slightly.

So chuffed, i also come in below calories!

Thanks for all your advice today guys.

Hi Savannah..I know what you are talking about. I have been struggling with this as well and I am also keeping an eye on my calories...which I know we are not supposed to count but mine are way below my BMR and I am trying to get them above it. Anyway there was an interesting thread about fat and percentages you might find informative.

What do you mean by coming in below calories? how many calories are you consuming in a day and is it above your BMR? If you're calories are too low that is not good either. I would follow Moochies advise and reread DANDR. It's importan that you do this properly and don't starve yourself or not eat enough of the proper nutrients (ie protein)

And yes, olives are induction friendly, up to 20 per day however they are a special category food so you'll have to see if you can tolerate them or not.

                          Well done Savannah
I am so glad that all the suggestions you have had are bearing fruit and you have managed to work out your percentages by 'tweaking' your menu.

For any other new inductioneers who are having similar problems with your ratios of fat/protein/carbs. Until you find you are picking the right ratios of food by habit it is a good idea to sit down early in each day and write into fitday not only what you have eaten but what you intend to eat and seeing how the numbers pan out.

Then you have time to switch possible food items to get it worked out better like Savannah did.

Not really - we go by the book on the allowed list - the special category foods like your olives are allowed to add variety if needed - but you must be aware that they have been known to stall some people so if that happens you have to consider dropping them from being a regular menu item.

I know it is confusing when longtime Atkineers suggest it is allowable to vary from what is in the book (a recent discussion on having more veggies than the 3 cups comes to mind) - but if you are on induction you will give your body the best chance of success by following Dr Atkins' advice rather than deciding that just because someone else says they had no problems bending the rules it is going to be fine for you. Better safe than sorry!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I know i sound like i moan alot, but im just confused either that or my body is retarded and refuses to obey the diet blinkin diet.

Was so dissapointed after my ratio breakthrough yesterday, even woke up feeling slightly lighter only to discover that all my pants ( gym pants and jeans) are all much tighter , i measured myself and i seem to be expanding rather than shrinking.
No cheats, ratios were right. Calories were on the dot!
Maybe im just one of those people who does have to starve herself in order to lose weight!

TOM due Monday but surley that cant have such a dramatic effect.

Hanging in there by a thread, scared of continuing with this WOE in case i end up worse off then when i started
