I have a 2yr old and she's losing weight along with me. I don't want this(obvious). I try to make sure that i don't restrict her carb intake along with mine but somehow i'm doing it anyway. this week i bought her some ensure and have really been trying to watch it. i do cook side dishes with my meals i just don't eat the carby ones. i'm not buying any of the high sugar, high carbs snacks anymore though which is what i think may be the trigger with my baby. the other day as i was making her a pb&j it occured to me that i hadn't given her that for lunch the whole time i was on induction. she's been snacking on whatever i snack on which has been low carb. *** she doesn't have a weight problem and i don't want her losing what she has. even snacks that are healthy for her are not for me. what to do?
sample of snacks i usually give her:
    cheese and crackers
    peanut butter and crackers
any fruit (she loves bananas and apples)
    oatmeal pies
chee-tos....you get the point...now please give me some advice

She can have things like mashed potatoes (made with red potatoes, not white) with real butter, whole wheat low-sugar toast with peanut butter, etc.

Essentially, she can eat the Atkins Maintenance Diet. This is what my family does.

Your two year old shouldn't be having high sugar daily snacks. So it's good you cut that out of her diet.

      As for healthy snacks:
Fruit: try out the lower glycemic ones like berries and melons.
Vegetables: celery sticks with peanut butter or cream cheese. Carrot sticks and red pepper strips with dip.
Egg salad or chicken salad on crackers.
Cubes of a mild-tasting cheese, like mozzarella
      Ricotta cheese with fresh fruit
1/4 of a sandwich: whole grain bread with peanut butter or roast chicken slices.

Avoid fruit juice, as it's only flavored sugar water. She's better off eating the whole fruit. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics has guidelines on juice intake for infants, children and teens, because they finally recognized that fruit juice is a nutrient-poor "food".

        Re: Problem

Hey there... I would recommed yogurt, regular, or the tube kind frozen.... apples and peanut butter... whole fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers. We have found some whole grain tortilla chips that the kids love to dip in beans, or I nuke quesadillas.. cut up broccoli and cauliflower and bell peppers and radishes for everyone, and let her dip them in ranch... whole grain bread with natural peanut butter and mashed banana or berries... cheese rolls... and my kids new favorite things is boiled eggs (we dye them just a little cracked so it is fun to make adn to open and eat)

I dont think it is wrong to cut out the highly processed high sugar foods. They dont do anyone any good, adn little teeth are especially vulnerable to cavities, and I think it conditions them to want the sugar foods forever...

        No wasted carbs.
        Water intake .5 -1 gallon.
        Exercise 60 minutes 5x week
        Get in the right veggies.

I would like to add...especially because she has dropped weight... that you do bring her to the doctor for a check up for your own peace of mind. Ask him where she falls on the percentile for her age and weight.
