      Re: New, have questions.

The reason I am fasting is because I feel like if I start with nothing, then get to add the little stuff that I can eat, I will feel better than taking away everything.

That's every other diet you've ever been on talking. You're seriously going to LOVE Atkins. Stop fasting and just hop onto the induction plan today. Trust me!

I am not sure about the fasting thing, either. But, I will start your two weeks with ya. If that helps you, just make list of water, food, exercise and we can compare at night. Pairing up helps. As for now, if you are still not eating today, I'd say make some scrambled eggs and a salad. Make a ham and egg and cheese omelette or chicken salad or tuna rolled in lettuce. No reason to wake up tomorrow and starve. Let me know!! In the meantime, load up on the foods you will be eating and just read up....

            Re: New, have questions.

I have read some stuff in the FAQ section, I even printed it off but I am still uncertain as to exactly what to eat. I know I can have eggs. meats, cheese, and some veggies, I am uncertain as to how much I can have of each and when I should eat it. It does say to eat either 3 regular meals or 6 small means, but what defines regular and small?

              Re: New, have questions.

Regular could be considered as meals. 6 smaller meals could be considered as maxi-snacks. Do you have the 2002 version of the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? If not, it's really hard to get a full feel of this way of eating without it. It is extremely helpful and in-depth and includes menus and other things which have been incredibly instrumental here for many of us! It's what we recommend all newbies to this way of eating get their hands on. You can buy yours at Amazon.com, used, for a very low price.

No I have not purchased that book, I will do that asap, but I would still like to start induction tomorrow, because I am really excited about it.

                  Re: New, have questions.

Welcome to the board! I have been on the plan for a little over a month and have lost 26 pounds so far. Let me tell you, you need the book. It is the "go-to" for everything.

To help you out, tomorrow morning get up and eat a couple of scrambled eggs with 1/4 c. cheese and some protein. Look at any meat you have to make sure there is no sugar added because they sneak it into EVERYTHING! Then, for lunch go get the book.

Also, buy some kind of water bottle with markings on it and start chugging along. You need to drink tons of water. I drink at least one gallon a day. You can do it cause if I can, anyone can. I have a journal I just started down in the journal section if you want to check it out. Good luck to you and welcome!

I went tonight and bought some acceptable foods, Does this sound like a good menu for a day...Breakfast: eggs, cheese. Lunch Salad and tuna Super: Salad, veggies, Chicken.. and LOTS of water? another question, I bought some carb smart dressing is that ok? it has no carbs in it so i was assuming so.

                          Re: New, have questions.

your serving sizes and amounts will be totally dependant on your hunger. On Atkins we eat as much food as it takes to satisfy our hunger at the time we are eatting and then stop. You will see by day 4 you have cut way back on your eatting cause you just aren't hungry. Watch the carbs any dressing with less then 2 carbs a serving and sugar way down the ingredients list is okay ranch is the one most folk use. Save some money and get the real stuf like Hidden Valley or your local store brand.

Use a free fitday account to track your foods and see your carb count and your high 65% high fat totals.

Happy low carbing. BTW what you doing for ther mandatory exercise part of your Atkins?

I will be going to the gym 4 days a week, mon, fri, sat, sun if not more, and doing 20 min of bike, 5 min of the stair steppers, abs, and legs. I havent worked out in a while so I am still getting use to it and as I do, I will add more time. Is there anything else that I should include?

                              Just to add...

"satisfying your hunger" isn't the same thing as "stuffing yourself like a Thanksgiving turkey".

You might also want to print out the Rules of Induction as well.
