If your fitday ratios show that you need more fat, a great way to add it in is to cook with olive oil (which makes things like chicken skin nice and crispy when you roast them) or flavored mayonnaises as dips.

There are tons of great things you can mix with mayonnaises to make toppings or dips. Here are a few I like:

    Mayonnaise with curry power
    Mayonnaise with homemade pesto sauce
    Mayo with Old Bay Seasoning
    Etc.

Just be aware of what is in your spices that you mix with the mayo so you don't get extra added carbs. This is one of the few ways I get my fats though.

Re: Not an ounce. Now what? :-(

I'm new here and others are Pro's here to say the least sooo.....Don't ask me why and this may not pertain to you or anyone else here but I used the induction phase ONLY for years just loose a quick 10 to 15 LBS or more if I went over a month. I bet I did this over 30 times! My culprit from all the induction experience i had was diet sodas! THERE IS SOMETHING IN THOSE DARN THINGS! I think and strongly believe that I am allergic or most people like me respond negative to all the chemicals involved in some drinks and foods. I also found that BY PRODUCTS which are things made from things with chemicals added cause retarded weight loss! When you get stung by a bee you swell cause it is poison, well, in my belief......chemicals to most are not natural and is why we swell some and America has a weight problem thede days. Heck, I stopped the soda bindging a few times alone and lost weigh. This is the first time I will do induction in my life with all natural "as grown" products. Fish fillets, meats, vegies, etc...all from the marketplace for me. I hold aspertame as the no. 1 preditor of poisonous intake! good luck

Well I am encouraged to see that you can lose 0 lbs. during and still manage to succeed at your weightloss goal in the end.

I didn't think you could overeat on Atkins... One of the reasons I chose Atkins is because at least initially it seemed I didn't have to count anything as long as I avoided certain foods.

I am definitely exercising, though not as much as I want. Just today I went for a fast-paced (for me) walk. And this evening I will do some exercises with one of my FIRM videotapes.

It is very possible since you said you ate all this meat you may have overeatten your Atkins. You also didn't say how many pounds you needed to lose those that need to lose the most like the super heavyweights in our CC forums lost more total pounds during induction then do our fly weights even though the flyweights 2 pounds out of 20 needed to lose is twice the loss in percent of body mass 10 pounds whould be for someone needing to lose 100 pounds.

When you start a new to you exercise program your muscle will super hydrate as they from genetic conditioning believe you were in some horrible danger to put them under such a high load of work and they want to be sure they are ready to save you again should this danger return. As your muscle learn the new exercise workout is their normal load they will release thsi extra fluid they stored.

Hasve you checked your inches lost to see if you have lost fat mass while adding lean body mass? Atkins is all about inches of fat lost as we morph our bodies adding lean body muscle mass and burn off fat mass.

And lastly one of our former ADMins who is now a goalie lost 0 pounds for her induction time. She kept going healing her metabolism by eating her Atkins and exercising and in less then a yr arrived at goal and has been there for over a yr now.

        Happy low carbing.

Re: Not an ounce. Now what? :-(

          Okay you want to know:

          -How tall are you? 5'3"
          -Male or female? Female

-How much weight are you looking to lose? (start weight/goal weight) 185/135

-Two days worth of menus, and I mean *everything* you put in your mouth. Not only what, but how much. Include condiments, beverages, water, everything.

I posted two days of menus in the Review my Menu forum.

-Are you on any medications or do you have any health issues?
Yes, I am taking Cymbalta, Cytomel, and Topamax. At night I sometimes take Ambien or Seroquel.
Health issues: depression, recurring migraines, insomnia.

-Are you taking supplements? If so, what?
Borage Oil, Fish Oil, Multi-carotenoids, Vitamin E, Vitamin B complex, calcium+mag+D
I'll run out of the borage oil soon, at which time I'll switch to Evening Primrose Oil.
(I notice that the capsules for all of the above except B & calcium have glycerine in them... does this matter?)

-Are you exercising? If you are, what are you doing, how often and how long? If you're not - GET STARTED!
Yes... I'm doing the FIRM videotapes... an older series called FIRM Basics if you are familiar with it. That's 3 days/wk.
I also take a walk 5 days/wk. (So obviously, some days I exercise twice).

          -Have you taken your measurements?
          No. :-(((

          Hope this helps.

Re: Not an ounce. Now what? :-(

adding fat to a meal is very easy but remember it doesn't take much fat to raise your fat cals which will becaue you total cals also goes up lower your protein percent. for example if you wewre eating 900 cals Amount picked for math ease and had 400 cals of protein and 480 cals of fats whith 20 cals of carbs you would be 53.3% fats 44.4% proteins and 2% carbs. Add 2T Olive oil through out the day in your cooking and you are now at 1140 total cals and your percents are 65% fats and 36% proteins and all you did was saute your veggies and /or meats in 2T of a healthy oil

Dr Atkins repeatedly in your DANDR talks about how satisfying the fats and the mixed proteins/fats are. He stresses and even gives lessons in listing to your hunger and only eating enough food to satify your hunger at the time you are eating. So if for dinner to night it takes using yur salmon meal 1.2 that amount of salmon and only 1/2 cup of veggies you stop even if you have room in your tummy carbs in your daily limit to consume and food still on the plate. put the palte away for the next time you are hungry and go about your business. If you get hungry in a couple hours you eat some more if you don't you got left overs for tomorrows breakfast or lunch.
