The cheese is processed so that's a big no for those in boot camp! You can have the meat, mustard, mayo, lettuce, and tomato, but no cheese.

I'm afraid I cannot make out what 2Big4MySize writes. But while cheeses are certainly permitted on Atkins, many eschew American as it is an imitation cheese.

okay time for the American cheese lesson again

many posters do not know cheese labels and make assumptions about American cheese. unless it says on the label it is cheese food or imitation cheese Pasturized Processed American cheese is 100% cheese it is required by FDA law to be a mix of cobly and cheddar with a 44% moisture content to wear that label. Other cheeses used in the mix are regulated too and those are called American cheese.
here is acopy of the rules determining the manufacturing of American cheese http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-...1999&TYPE=TEXT

            they may add
            (2) Cream, anhydrous milkfat, dehydrated cream, or any combination
of two or more of these, in such quantity that the weight of the fat
derived therefrom is less than 5 percent of the weight of the
            pasteurized process cheese.
they do not add carbs to it they add fat!

                  Re: Wendy's Hamburgers

you guys really need to learn about cheese making

ALL cheese is processed. they process cheese by mixing culture and salts into the cream and heating while stirring
depending on the final profuct it will be labeled in the US according to strick FDA rules

cheese which is one flavor with nothing else in it
processed cheese ( note not cheese food) that had 2 flavors of cheese blended together as in Paturized Processed American Cheese
or something like peppers added as in pepper jack processed cheese

                  then there is
processed cheese food which has cheese and other not cheese nor cream stuff added and not Atkins allowed
imitation cheese that is not allowed which has no cheese in it

so Cleo could you please show us what ingredient in the Amercian cheese isn't on the acceptable foods lists?

                      Re: Wendy's Hamburgers

Milk protein concentrate is the kind of stuff that is nasty in the ingredients in American cheese singles.

I know what you mean when it's actual American cheese (Subway sells sandwiches with white American, as an example). I'm talking about the bright orange stuff that is filled with Chernobyl glow-in-the-dark plastic Hasbro molded badness that has the shelf life longer than Pamela Lee's boobs.

regardless of the cheese issue... Wendy's burgers are great!! During induction and extended I ate them often. Get yourself a triple burger minus everything with the side caeser salad... love it.. Much better then any of the garbage you would get at the golden arches

I doubt anyone will suffer any major setbacks with a slice of Wendy's cheese, whether real or not. Personally, its the sodium content in the burgers that I'd be more concerned with.
