From your question, I gather you have not read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition. I highly recommend that you do so, in order for you do this diet properly and safely.
In the meantime, you might want to look through the FAQ section of this board (see above navigation bar and click on "FAQ") because that has information that will help you.

I agree with reading the book. The first time I tried Atkins I just listened to my friend as what to eat and I was eating peanuts and everything! I also read the book but didnt get a clear cut understanding until I came here and read for hrs and hrs at a time....I encourage everyone to do research and not just jump into it.218
