  • i'm really hungry

    and feeling kind of spacey. cheese and meat and eggs sound really gross to me right now. i feel like crap.

    oh yea, first day induction...any thoughts?

    did i mention i'm really hungry?

    You can be more full on Atkins than any other way of eating imaginable. If you are hungry, EAT!

    You never, ever, ever have to go hungry on Atkins. You can have LIBERAL amounts of meat, fish, eggs, 3 cups of veggies and 4 ounces of cheese.

    If you keep eating meat, fish, eggs, 3 cups of veggies and 4 ounces of cheese per day, your palate will adjust and these will become the foods that you crave.

    If you are hungry make yourself an omelet or cook a chop or make some salmon cakes and eat it! Chop up some jicama or mix some sausage with cream cheese. Make a mock danish.

    Please read all the stickys and the top of this forum, and also the 2002 DANDR. And drink lots and lots of water. You can do this.

        You have gotten wonderful advice so far, but let me repeat it, EAT!!!! LOL
        Yes, it sounds crazy, but you can eat and lose weight!! Please, read the book, drink your water, and eat your veggies. You will do great!!!

          lol i'm sorry guys its just weird....on a diet and eveyrones screaming EAT DELICIOUS FOOD UNTIL YOU PASS OUT AND YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT!!!!

          is this a forum or did i die and go to heaven?????????

              Yes, this is heaven! A typical INduction menu for me was

              BF: bacon or minute steak with eggs or mushrooms
              LUNCH: chicken or salmon or meat with a big green salad
              DINNER: as above but the veges stir fried.

              Now I'm on OWL I have things like strawberreis and cream for dessert, and nuts for a snack if I get peckish (within limits, of course).

              It's definitely heaven, it does not get any better than this!

                oh my god you look fantastic, i can't believe you lost 25 pounds on induction. i am overwhelmed at the dedicated people on this forum.

                i officially got through my first day! yay. except i had three cups of coffee and six splendas. but other then that just cheese pork and egg white.

                    that sounds really good.

                    ok everybody...i was hungry. i ate. like half a package of cream cheese mixed with 2 eggs and then fried like pancakes in butter. i feel gross, like i way overate and the involuntary guilt is setting in. maybe it had to do when i had two spoonfuls of cream cheese, by itself and i swear i had a spiritual expierence. i never got to have cream cheese the way i used to eat. really enjoying fattening food is programmed into us to be a bad bad thing...

                    i do feel really fat right now though, and my headache has set in.

                      Relax, it's okay. This is a whole new experience for your body. It will adjust rather quickly to this way of eating. What you're doing is going through the 'induction flu'. I'll tell you a little bit about my experience. During induction, sometime in the first week I started feeling tired, sick to my stomach, terrible headache. I was going through withdrawal. My body detoxing off of all the crap it was used to eating...sugar, caffeine, toxins in all the processed food. My lazy body/metabolism saying to me...really loudly..."Hey, give me caffeine, give me sugar, give me flour, give me garbage...it's really easy for me to turn that stuff into energy, I don't want to have to work to turn the protein and fat into energy, I'd rather lay here on the couch and eat the crap."
                      Well, for me this became a battle of will. I was NOT going to let this couch potatoe body continue to sabotage my life. And guess what, I won! After a couple days, the body couldn't take not having any energy, so it finally decided to get up off the proverbial couch and go after the fat on my hips and abdomen. Let me tell you, when it decided to do that it made a complete turn around in it's attitude. It felt so much better! TONS of energy (you'd have thought I gave it some kind of energy pill) and a complete turnaround in my mental outlook/health. The cravings went away for the most part. I won't say that they totally went away in the first two weeks, but definitely by the third or fourth. Whenever you get cravings, eat something high in fat...make the mock danish, eat cheese, eat some veggies in dip.

                      As far as being pre-programmed to avoid fat, it sounds to me like you havent' read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 (DANDR for short) because you will find all the information you need to understand why this works. I cannot stress enough to you how important it is. In that book, he will tell you why you've been "programmed" wrongly to avoid fat. Your body needs fat--the right fats! What your body does not need is sugar, refined flour and processed foods. Do your research and understand why your body feels the way it feels, DANDR will give you the science (and the proper way to do his plan) and this board is absolutely FULL of articles from other sources besides Dr. Atkins such as studies coming out of Duke and Harvard, and a diabetic doctor Dr. Bernstein, endocrinologists and other independent studies.

                      You've started out on the right track by coming here for support, but make sure you do it the right way. Vegetables are critical to your diet, make sure you eat them.

                        Yes, please read the book (and the stickys). You must eat your veggies, and the limit to cheese is 3 or 4 oz. a day and only 3 servings of splenda a day. Drink lots of water, and you will be losing weight and you won't believe how great you feel. You can get the book on Ebay or Amazon for a low price. I got mine for 5.00 on Ebay. Please keep us posted on how you are doing!

                            Has anyone said....EAT! Just kiddin'! Follow the advice here, these people know what they're doing. Remember you can have more than just meat....eat your veggies or something fatty as that'll make you feel more satisfied!

                              hey everyone, i am waiting for the book now, i am actually confined to my home for the time being..so the mail should be bringing it anyday.
                              i went to sleep about 3:00 am in the morning and wow i woke up at 4:20 pm very strange. i felt like DEATH but i felt really skinny in an odd turn of events because i went to bed feeling kind of stuffed. so i made a breakfast of spinach, cheese, and one tablespoon of natural peanut butter (3 carbs) so i will drink alot of water and see how it goes.
