  • Hello all (Lurker finally posting)

I started my lifestyle change a few weeks ago (March 4th) and had a setback in the form of a few mojitos and some candy on the 10th.
I restarted on the 14th and have been on clean induction ever since. I can't say it's been easy but I've almost reached the end of my planned induction stage (March 31st).
There were many days where I could have easily eaten a dozen doughnuts, a entire pizza, drank a few milkshakes, eaten an entire cake, but I was able to fend off the tempation dragon.
I read the book back in 2000 and did the process to lose the weight I gained after I broke my ankle while training for the Marine Corps Marathon but the weight came back mostly due to my lack of control. I could literally sit at the table and eat a full large pizza or an entire box of doughnuts or even an entire 24 ounce cake without thinking twice but when my wife compared my stomach to her pregnant tummy, I got the message.

I must say that reading your stories has helped me get through the last month like I never could have imagined. There were days when my wife and baby were alseep and I had the car keys in my hand to to to the local krispy kreme place and eat a dozen before bed. but I came to the site and read how others have been dealing with temptation and I stopped myself.

I'm a stay at home dad with a pregnant wife so I'm preparing food almost all day long. Fresh apples, banana, melon, oranges, crackers, pasta and yogurt for the baby and cinnamon rolls, ice cream sundaes, pizza, pastas and cappuccinos for the wife.

Thank you all for being so positive and I hope I can contribute and help others through this very challenging step in lifestyle change.

wow harry! you're only 4lbs to goal? that is great!
I think you'd find alot of agreement here on how easy to over eat like you were doing.
We're a bunch of former carbaholics here. That's what is so great about atkins, most of the time if you stick with it you won't even be tempted by other food. I can be around the carb fests at work and stay 'sober', lol, no problem.
im glad you find this board inspiring...it has done wonders for me as well.
good luck with the diet and baby to be!!
    oh and welcome

Welcome Harry. Sounds like you are doing great.
I have some tough love for you.

crackers, pasta and cinnamon rolls, ice cream sundaes, pizza, pastas and cappuccinos

Thats not food - its poisen.
              It isn't good for anyone.

If you take your health seriously, then it is high time to stop providing all this crappy carbage for your family. You are doing them no favor.

I would seriously question why you are keeping yourself in a situation where you are surrounded by inappropriate food????

Take your new health regime seriously. Get that carbage out of the house. There is no reason why your family cannot eat the same healthy food that you do.

Caffeine is just so bad for the body. It provides a false artifical high, that is soon followed by a devastating plunge. Over and over - wean your family off caffeine and go for decaf. You will be so much better off for it.

                Hello Harry
I am glad you decloaked and posted here!
I second tabekat's suggestion that it would be good if you could start to substitute more healthy foods for your family as well as yourself to keep you all in good health for the future.
You will be moving on to OWL soon I hope to find out your CCLL and if any foods in the OWL rungs upset your body. So there is the ideal opportunity to get your family eating wholesome foods from all the food groups alongside you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
