  • Atkins causing mental illness??

... OK OK Atkins DOES NOT cause mental illness, But being committed to losing weight can make others think your a little nutty (as i'm sure you can agree).

Here's how you to can come to the same conclusion:

    • Step 1

      Begin your clean induction
    • Step 2

Near the end of your clean induction (mine is tomorrow) find out how much you've lost
    • Step 3

Now go find some objects that are close to that weight.

I used milk bottles filled with water, i also weighed them while my fiance was in the shower.. her response:

      "BRENDON ARE YOU !!!!! NUTS!??"

Which is fair.. since it was during her shower and she kept wondering where the water pressure was going only to open the shower curtain to see me with 3 x 3litres milk bottles filled with water on the scales... my response?

"Yep!!, now this really puts it in perspective doesn't it!!" i say with 19 pound of milk bottles in my hands!
It doesn't matter if its 1 pound or 100pounds
That's something you don't have to carry around anymore.

Now i will add disclaimer here and state that i am not responsible for those who've lost so much weight there likely to damage there spine while lifting...

I'd suggest doing this if your feeling down about atkins at any stage towards your goal it will really put everything your doing into perspective.

    Cheers

    PS
No milk bottle was harmed during the inspiration for this thread.

LOL! Thanks for the chuckle. I don't know about mental illness, but I am developing an addiction to this board.

I can sympathize with your wife with the water pressure and temperature thing.

Oh, by the way, I have lost an "18 lb. turkey". LOL! Imagery!

LOL , I feel the same way about this board--I am here 2-3 times a day looking for folks who are dealing with the same diet issues I am

Like today, I was watching Rocky 3 and realize I weight more than Slyvester Stallone--What the ******??

Sometimes beign honest with yourself makes you want to work even harder and may cause some "mental illness"

Moochiecat used to suggest that carrying something like a bag of kittylitter around for a few minutes brought it home to her just how much she had lost!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

When I gave my girlfriends son a piggy back (carried him on my shoulders) last week, I realised quite how much weight I carried around before I lost weight. He is nearly 11 years old, and he weighs the same as I have lost!!!!

It was quite hard work, I cant believe I had to do that all the time before.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Wow, Richt! You lost an 11 year-old? That's super! I love the idea of comparing what you've lost to something physical. Somehow, the picture of losing a bag of potatoes doesn't bring up the vivid image in my mind as much as losing a whole person, and still carrying it around. Great word picture!
