  • Crash and Burn

Well, today marks day three and I have to be honest, I feel like total ****. Im not sure if its my body reacting to having no carbs or the fact that I haveevt had a Red Bull, Mt Dew, Monster, or Rockstar drink in as many days. I just woke up and its 9:30. Normally I get up around 7ish. I sure hope that this fatigue dosent last too long.

Hang in there....it should pass in the next couple of days! Detoxing is hard on our bodies. I just went through my crash and burn, but I believe I have come out the other side. Went to bed around midnight and woke up raring to go at 7:30 this morning....and I wanted to sleep in!! Good luck -- you're almost there.

I went through the same thing too - hang in there! It is probably your body detoxing from the sugar and caffeine! You will wake up one day... probably around day 5 or so... and feel completely refreshed, and have lots of energy. Stick with it - you can do it!

It's probably a combination of both. But please make sure you aren't doing Atkins the "zero carb way" because that's not Atkins! Be sure to eat your allowed vegetables because you need them.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I went to the rink this afternoon, just to mess around and take a few shots on goal and was exhausted at the end of it. After I got out of the showers I was feeling real wierd (hard to explain I guess). I think I may keep off the ice till this funk I am in passes.

The first 3 days are the hardest. After your body detoxes you will feel this amazing energy rush. It's addictive in itself & it's natural!! I don't know how old you are but you will feel like a kid again. Good Luck & stick w/ it

                  Re: Crash and Burn

Feeling better today? I'm right there with ya. I did all the drinks like crazy too. I allow myself coffee again, but I have to keep a limit on it.

I play hockey, too - that's why I asked about it in another post of yours. I play inline here in VA. It's a blast. My college boyfriend played for the Nashville Knights (if you have any idea who they were) and I always wanted to try it. I always skated well, so when we moved out here I was excited to join a rec team. It's hard to explain, but when I get into all those pads, it really makes me into a totally different person, fearless and invincible.

                    Re: Crash and Burn

                    Hey Josie,

Its awsome that you play Hockey too. I grew up in Canada and learning how to skate just kinda comes with the Territory. I in a semi-pro league here in Kansas City, which is a pretty small league, so we only play against clubs from the Tri-State area (however, we did get a chance to play against a team from San Antonio, Texas last year). I started out as a right winger but after junior hockey, I slowly migrated into playing Defense. I have always been a big hitter, so playing Defense and on the Penalty Kill units just seemed to suit me better.

I love to inline also but never eally got into it from a Hockey standpoint. I know USA Hockey santions inline clubs from all over the US, and I have the utmost respect for it. I do love to inline if there is some kids B-day party at my local rink or they have it open for free skate, as a matter of fact I just got a new pair of Salomon Minton 06's off of inlinewarehouse a couple weeks back and they skate smooth as silk. AS far as my ice gear is concerned, I am a firm beliver in Bauer and CCM.

I know all too well, that feeling of power that you are talking about. Its quite a rush isnt it?

                      Re: Crash and Burn

I use all Bauer and CCM too. I have three different skates because of the wheels - 76A to play at the rink, 80A to play in the school parking lot with my friends or to go to the skate park (it's very smooth, but cement), and 82A to skate in my streets. I can't buy hockey skates because my feet are too narrow for the mens' skates and I can't find girls' inline hockey skates. So I buy regular inlines and my hubby saws off the brakes (cross-overs when you forget the brake is there suck).

Once in a while, i'll have to play right D, but most of the time I avoid defense because the guys I play with are really hard hitters. My finger was broken by a puck last year and I was wearing my CCM gloves! I can't claim that I'm really good, but I hold my own for the team and I live for the game. We're not playing right now, but I can't wait to start up again in the fall.

actually scooter, I feel much better. Still cant claim to be firing on all cylinders, but definatley a dramatic improvement. Id be lying if I said I didnt want to go to quick trip and buy a 25 oz Monster drink and slam it to the dome, but from what I have heard from others, those drinks are the kiss of death. But thanks for checkin in on me.

No problem. Glad your feeling better. It will continue to get better and better!! I guarantee! A month from now when your super-charged and playing better than you have for awhile, you'll be happy you did this!!

Sounds like Hockey is a way of life for you, just add this Atkins WOE into it and the two together should be a match made in heaven!!
