  • Atkins Website Confusion

I was looking for some sample induction menus and went onto the Atkins website and now I'm a bit confused.......

    http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...tion-meal-plan

    The menu included these items:

Day 1/ breakfast/ 1 slice Atkins Bakery Multigrain bread

Day 3/ breakfast/ Atkins hot cereal with Hood carb countdown reduced carb

Day 4/ lunch/ Atkins Bakery Rye bread

Day 5/ breakfast/pancakes made from Atkins Quick Quisine Pancake and Waffle mix

    etc., etc., etc.

I thought if it wasn't on the Acceptable food list then we couldn't have it....period! Are these things really okay to have during induction?

Yeah...since the good Dr. A passed away, and actually even before that, the Atkins Nutritionals Company has forgotten what the plan is all about and is pushing their money making products. There are tons of threads on this site about this very subject.

Don't waste your money on this stuff. Stick to what the book says. We follow what the book says. You NEVER have to buy one single low carb product to do Atkins. All you need is fresh meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains.

the Atkins Nutritional group decided after Dr Atkins died that they needed to change to meet the demands of the new users so they added all those convenience foods to the plan. Dr Atkins would bnever have allowed that afterall it was the current eating habits of his patients that got them needing Atkins in the first place.

FYI His convenience food was madadamia nuts after he finished induction

I prefer to look at it in simplistic terms. The good Dr. Atkins and the mean corporate nutritional arm of Atkins had a philisophical divorce. Dr. Atkins tells us in his book that he knows that low carb products are out there and will likely become more popular, but he also tells us that there is nothing better than whole foods and shopping the perimeter of the grocery store. I've done the best when I eat whole foods.
