  • my Induction questions....

    hey all
i was wondering, what type of foods can i eat, if im not a big fan of bacon or salads. Everyone seems to like bacon, but ive never liked it much. Salad gives me constant diarrhea, i dont know why.

Here is what i am thinking

    Breakfast: Cheese Omelet
Lunch: Hamburger patty without bun, but with Onion and Tomato
Dinner: Grilled Chicken Breast, Brocolli and Carrots.

What would be a good snack to buy, in case i just want something to munch on.

what kinds of Diet Pop is ok to drink on Induction stage? or is there none at all?

thanks for addressing these concerns. Thanks

    Re: my Induction questions....

first of all it is most important for you to get the book and read it cover to cover if you have not already

you do not have to eat bacon or salads ..there is a list of foods you can print off in the FAQ's and it gives you all kinds of ideas for foods to eat ...also you can go check out the cooking threads and see what sparks you there...

diet pop is self defeating I suggest you avoid it completely and just stick to water during induction

    good luck and welcome

      Re: my Induction questions....

Your menu looks okay. I would suggest that you try to get some veggies into each meal, so instead of a cheese omelet, try one with mushrooms or tomates and green peppers or heck with omelets, the sky is the limit.
Carrots are not allowed yet but the broccolli is a staple. Also cauliflower is a great, I like them mashed with cream cheese or butter.
Welcome, by the way. Glad you found us and posted.

No NO on the carrots on induction, but good going on the rest of the things. Sounds like your menu is ok even if you dont like bacon. I don't eat bacon either (I dont eat pork or beef)...so I find substitutes. I eat turkey sausage from the TURKEY STORE brand...doesn't have sugar listed. Do you like fish....smoked fish? I eat that sometimes for breakfast too. Lots of options...just check around here for ideas...

          holy crap lol

i ate atkins for 4 days, already starting to feel the difference. Clothes are a tiny bit looser, so i jumped on the scale, and lo and behold, dropped from 201 to 196. 4 days with Zero exercise! Imagine if i do exercise.

im going to go on extended induction if i can, because i enjoy eating this way, and i like losing this weight too

            welcome to 100erland

Your weight loss rate will slow from here on out but you will continue to burn off your excess body fat. on day 15 look at chapter 12-14 in your DANDR so you will know if you should stay extended induction or move to OWL.

BTW since you didn't exercise you are not doing Atkins cause Dr Atkins said so in chapter 15. Exercise is a mandatory part of the Atkins plan chapter 22 of DANDR

              Re: my Induction questions....

              wow, im fluctuating a lot
when i wake up im 195, at 4 pm im 198, is something really messed up with my body or scale? i usually just go to burger king or wendy's, order a cheeseburger, order it plain, take off the buns, and chow down on the patty, bacon and cheese.

ive been eating like i always do, eggs in the morning, hamburger patty with cheese(cheddar) for lunch, bacon, hamburger, cheese, and chicken for dinner. I usually drink 1-3 diet sodas a day, but now, ive been cutting it down to 2 a day, and lots of water

I felt pretty good for the past few days, like i had gotten thinner, XXL became too big for me, etc. But now i feel bigger! Is this normal? i havent strayed from the menu at all for these past 8 days.

i used to be losing, but now im not... anything else i can try that you can get from a store? I cant really cook, and my mom(being Indian) cant cook "American" food. also need some good snacks that you can get already pre-made that are '' Atkins"?

now, that school is starting, i wont have time to make my eggs. is there any special breakfast bar, or those atkins bars that work well for a quick morning snack?

any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

Alot of people say NO SODA, but here is my personal opinion. I think it depends on the person. It doesn't cause stalls for me. For some people it does. So, I would watch out for it. I do however have to watch how much I drink of it because it can trigger my sweet tooth! As far as the best kind, and I do believe Dr. Atkins mentioned this in his book, is Diet Rite it is made with splenda. And comes in assorted flavors. You defiantly need to pick up the book and read, because if you have no clue what you are suppose to be eating you are going down a road of failure.

                      Re: my Induction questions....

                      yeah,
will be purchasing some Diet Rite, as i see it is recommended. Well, i have read the book, and most of the back, does consist of recipes. I have no idea what in the heck they are, so thats why im asking. He says Eggs, bacon, meat, different kinds of veggies, and i would eat those without a question, IF I HAD TIME.

Dont have time to cook the eggs and bacon, lunch i can get just fine, same with the dinner. Just wondering whats up, and whats happenning to my body.

and i do have a clue as what to eat, lunch and dinner wise....,

if i didnt, my post would be " What is atkins? how can i do it? what foods can i eat, and what i cant", and that wasnt at all the question

Definitely add in veggies, and the right kind. Are you checking your ratios of fat/protein/carbs? Should be as close to 65/30/5 as you can get, in the same order. I didn't read back all the way, so if anyone else said this, I apologize! Just hang in there, and measure for progress also. Good luck!

OHHH, and I know what you mean about the recipes! LOL I wish it had more in it that were just plain old recipes, if you know what I mean! Check out the recipes here too!

                            Re: my Induction questions....

ALOT of people are probably going to go against me on this one. But, if you TRULY TRULY TRULY have no time to cook breakfast. First suggestion, cook bacon ahead of time. Buy the premade stuff you just reheat. Eggs take like 2 minutes to cook. So, this really is a hard excuse. BUT LIKE I SAID IF YOU REALLY REALLY TRULY TRULY, just feel like you don't have the time. I feel like this would be a better idea than skipping breakfast completely. Atkins does make the shakes that are induction friendly. That you can use for breakfast on OCCASION!!.

You can fluctuate alot during induction depending on how much water you've had to drink, when you ate, etc.

The best advise I received during induction was to put the scales in the closet! You'll become a slave to them and they can be very demotivating if you see you've gained 4 lbs even if you forget you just drank a gallon of water.
