  • Wow, this thing works.

I'm entering day three of induction, and although I told myself I wouldn't look at a scale for two weeks, my curiousity got the best of me this morning and I looked. Seven pounds gone in that amount of time.
That's not to say it isn't tough though. I've got a constant low-grade headache and find myself scouring the fridge in search of God knows what, almost as an involuntary response. And there's a LONG way to go. However, I have this overall feeling that I have found a diet that can work for me.

Keep up the good work! Sounds like you're experiencing "Induction Flu" -- detoxing from sugar and caffeine.

Hang in there! It gets better and better!!

Congratulations! I experienced the same thing but it shouldn't last much longer. Wait until it's over and you get that burst of energy, it's great!

Congrats on the success so far. Rest assured what you are feeling (headaches) are common place, and will soon be over. I am glad it is working so well for you, and don't forget to change your weight counter in your sig. You'll find out what a joy that validation can be as well.

Thanks for reminding me Kent. I changed it. I went to a local gym this afternoon, signed up, and hired a personal trainer. I've set up next wednesday for my first workout in probably 15 years. And by the way, I feel really good this afternoon, so maybe that flu thing is over? I can only hope. Hopefully the visions of lost Krispy Kremes goes away soon too.

weigh to go now hide the scales till day 15 so you will not be frustrated by scale numbers not being what you think they should be from now on based on this rapid initial loss.

The scale has been put away until the induction elapses. The induction flu broke yesterday, and I have been all-energy. I feel REALLY good. I think I got more done this weekend than in the last 4 combined. This is truly amazing. The carb cravings are still around is all, and they come in waves. And, I've had leg-cramps, so I'm going out to get a mineral supplement per the book. It's also funny how fast you become conscious of the carbs, because this morning I was trying to figure out how many carbs I thought were in the Communion wine and wafer, and how it would afect my day. I still can't predict with certainty whether I can follow this long-term, but so far so good.

I never thought about communion calories I wonder if you can request a low carb version of the communion wine and wafer

This just goes to show you how many carbs you put in your mouth on a daily basis and don't even think about. I caught myself almost licking the knife after making my daughter a peanut butter and nutella sandwhich and realized that I used to do a lot of cleaning up that never got figured in as calories (this was pre Atkins). Now that I'm on Atkins, I don't do any cleaning up. It goes right in the dishwasher instead.

Great news on the weight lose and making it through the induction flu. Isn't it amazing what refined food does to our bodies that we are not even aware of until we detox!

I'm thru 6 days, and still no major issues. I'm a little sick of eating protein already, and worried what that will be like in a month or two, but right now, I feel good, and have had no major issues with anything other than those trips to the fridge for a phantom snack that isn't there. I notice a lot of folks around here miss sweets, but sweets don't even sound good. I'm having potatoe and bread withdrawals.

Here is a great website to add some variety to your menu. She even has the induction ones marked. No need at all to get sick of protein. http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/
I like to batch cook...so I usually double a recipe then divide it up into single servings and put them in the freezer and then I can just grab one and nuke it for a quick meal.

                            Re: Wow, this thing works.

I placed an order earlier in the week for several bottles of low-carb BBQ sauce and Heinze CarbOne ketchup, so that will help, and I'll take a look at the recipes thanks! 8 days are down, and I feel better about things than I did the other night. I'm going to try for a 28-day induction. I will have to take a look at the scale, though after day 14 to see how things are progressing. Tonight again, Atkins seems easy.
