  • 2 week induction complete!!

I'm very proud of myself. I am down 15 lbs !! That is 15 lbs of fat gone forever!!!!

I don't feel quite ready to move on yet. I really need to whip my body into gear.

I didnt do a completely clean induction though. I somehow missed that i couldnt eat nuts and was eating a half handful everyday for the first week. I also have had a little bit of splenda here and there like 1 serving a day. Havent been eating salads like I should but eating some nice veggies though. and the worst part ever....I havent been really exercising. I know... before anyone says it ill go ahead and say it...If your not excercising, your not doing atkins!

I am continuing induction and and doing everythng TO THE LETTER! I will exercise 6 times a week and will always get my greens. If anything I am only more motivated. What really gets me going is thinking..If I lost 15lbs not doing all the things i should....imagine what i could have lost doing it the right way. I am only sabotaging myself not excersising properly. I like a completely sedentary life. Even with 3 young kids. I HATE THAT! I dont even have the energy to get up off my chair sometimes to get the phone! How could I when i dont move much all day?

I need an entire lifestyle change. This WOL if for me! Im ready.

by the way, i havent been eating my salads cause im just not really a salad person but last night i found a cool way to get some greens. I had pork loin roast and sauteed eggplant and I tossed a spinach salad with a mayo based dressing and just put my meat and veggies over the bed of spinach. I could tolerate the greens much better that way.

Also I dont like the taste of romaine lettuce. I know iceburge isnt as healthy but is it ok? anyone know of any other kind that taste better? I have tried boston but its a lot more expensive for so little a head.

LOL - so you can consider yourself duly smacked. Hee.

Congratulations! That's a great loss. You can have iceberg, but it's little more than chewy water. You don't have to have salads. You can have what Atkins calls "salad veggies" which includes lots of things. Your tastes may change too. Try something new every week and soon you'll probably really enjoy them. I love daikon and chayote squash and I'd never even heard of them before finding the Board.

Definitely you need to exercise so you won't be all saggy baggy when you're nekkid. Also remember that 15 lbs is a lot for your body to lose in a short time. It may hesitate for a bit while it considers what you are doing so you may see a slow down in the scales or no loss for a week or so. That's normal and it doesn't mean that nothing's happening, just that it's not showing up on the scale. That's why most of us have a love-hate relationship with our scales. Woo hoo!! Rock on!

      weigh to go.

I don't know who told you you had to eat salad but they are wrong! you do have to eat 2 cups of the salad veggies but they are not all lettuce. Greens are a great way to get many vits and minerals though so I wouldn't want you to stop just cause I said you didn't have to. check out the salad veggie list and them cook with them you can hid then in your meats, in soups in omlettes and many other things. spinach dip is great spread on other veggies or even on a slice of meat.

so which of our exercise challenges are you joining?

I would love to join an excersise challenge. I am just that type of person that cant be truely motivated unless I am comitted (and other ppl know it and expect it of me) Is the boot camp still running? I looked in the bootcamp aticky but couldnt find a signup.

I got excercise tapes from the library yesterday and am looking forward tostarting them today (i had to borrow my moms VCR we only have dvd player)

Where do I sign up for the excersise challenges?

Congratulations on your weight loss - excellent job!

I get my veggies in by eating raw green peppers or cucumbers dipped in a little bit of ranch dressing. The peppers have a lot of carbs so it helps with your count. I hated them before I started Atkins but now I eat about one a day LOL

Also be careful with the spinach. I'm posting a thread about it. There has been an e coli outbreak that may have been from bagged spinach.

I love the spinach - it's so much better for you than lettuce is. Which is why I'm so upset about lildvl's post. There's zucchini, and broccoli, and squashies, and cauliflower (you can make smashed cauliflower which is really good).. and you learn to love them over time...

Great job. Make sure that you look into the exercise challenge forum. For me it is very helpful to join the challenges. I do my exercise because I have to report my progress. The support is also wonderful.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Congratulations Mothercooter! You've done a great job! I say since you obviously like the 'other' veggies then Rung 1 of OWL would be a great choice for you. You can stay on that rung for as long as you like, too! I love greens...especially spinach.

Lyssie, sorry about the spinach. I love it too but there has already been one death and several cases of extreme illness so best not to take any chances until health officials give us the okay to start eating it again.
