    Kim, You sound like you are doing great. I eyed those dang lowcarb ice cream things in the freezer section of the grocery but prevailed and got hot wings instead. Today was eggs, bacon, hamburger patty, cheese, and getting ready to eat a steak. I have to pick up my water intake though, been slacking a bit today. Eight pounds is wonderful, big pat on the back for ya!!!!

      we'll be able to have the low carb ice cream treats eventually..and I know from experience the breyers carb smart butter pecan ice cream is EXCELLENT...I weighed again (because I'm an addict) and I'm down another 2lbs wooohooo 10 total now...wow maybe this whole weight loss thing won't be as bad as I always make it out to be, this is the fastest I have EVER lost and I've been on plenty of diets--it's got to be the water and low low carbs, I'm not making it up to my 20 a day...I think today so far I'm at 11 or something...so what are you looking forward to doing at goal weight..for me it's all about the clothes right now...I'm ready to be stylish! I have been so painfully out of style for years now and I'm quite tired of looking like an overweight, over stressed house wife..frumpy city...I'm ready to sport some skinny jeans and high heels and what ever is the latest but not too young--I'm 38--no need going from frumpy to trying to hard!

        sounds like you are doing great


        Carbkicker I looked at your fitday to see if you had any triggering foods since you said you were hungry all the time. Your protein intake is more then 30% of your total cals for the past 2 days and as Dr Atkins says eating your Atkins too high in protein causes problems. the excess protein is converted to glucose in the body and that drives the blood sugar issues which result in hunger and not apetite suppression, and stops fat burning cause the body burns sugar first. that could be why you are not showing very many ketones when you do get to the fat burning stage.
        this could also be the cause of your headache if it isn't from low potssisum since you are also missing some of your 3 cups of induction acceptable veggies we are supposed to eat as the majority of our daily carb intake.

          yeah I am waiting for my book to arrive from amazon, and I don't know how to make a meal or really a daily intake of foods that keep my protein to 30% I mean I can't eat spoons of mayo or whatever to up my fat intake...so until my book arrives I just have to do the best I can and focus on not eating refined carbs and starchy veggies...but it's working at any rate, I'm down 10lbs

            What am I looking forward to you ask??? Let me tell you. I am looking forward to slipping on clothese without holding my breath. I want to climb stairs without panting. I want to come off of these high BP meds. I want to feel comfortable in front of audiences again. I want to take a hike and make it through. I wear size 20 now and want to get to a size where they make cute clothes that a 43 year old can wear. I want to get to a point where jumping on the scales does not ruin my day. I want to swim in public. There is a lot more, but will save for another post.

            I am down 9 pounds now and have not cheated. Kim, we are gonna do this!!!! Love that you lost the 10. I am so excited for you

            I will stay away from the "frankenfoods". I am going to the seafood place today and get some crabs!!!!!! I am in Maryland so crabs are my life. Dip pieces in butter and hot dang!!!!!

              that is a great I want list. many here call the I wants that are good things thier goals and reasons for doing Atkins.

              Carbkicker mayo isn't by the spoonfuls to correct things simple eating a smaller amount of protein with an added tespoon of a healthy oil in the cooking process will get you back in the appetite supressing ketosis Atkinseers so love.check out the 14 day induction stickies for all you need to know to correct things with your food choices issues. fighting hunger all day is something you shouldn't have to do.

                hoooray for your 9lbs it's great that we started on the same day and are losing at the same rate ! you said you want to be comfortable infront of audiences..are you a performer..back in the day ( like it was forever ago--but it was only 7 years ago) I was a promising folk/rock singer song writer guitar grrl....although i was a size 14 then and Atlantic records requested my packet/demo because I was holding a top spot on mp3.com on the folk chart (#3 for 9 weeks) anyways..I sent my package and they sent me a lovely letter saying I was too fat to front a band...how ya like that b.s..... I was the hottest I had ever been!!! the picture on my signature was the one from my cd....hot hot hot....society is very cruel....today I don't have the headache but am still hungry alot..what are you eating...my book shipped today so I should get it in two....I am just counting carbs but not getting my ratio right...

                    Carbkicker you will not be getting excess ketnes for your stix till you lower the protein %and burn fat more then sugar. With a high protein intake you will be seeing more of the PP power results, very doable to lose weight, but no hunger suppression and no positive stix.

                          Kim, are you afraid of veggies??? Get your 2-3 cups veggies from the acceptable lists in there ASAP. They will not slow your loss, they will provide manadatory nutrients and variety.

                          A chef salad w/cukes and peppers would be a good supper. A 2 egg omelet w/veggies and some ham would be good. Each meal should be in correct ratios. Not perfect, that's pretty close to impossible, but a basic formula of a normal sized portion of meat with a teaspoon to a tablespoon of butter, olive oil, mayo, plus your veggies works out pretty close. And only eat until you are full, not stuffed. Until you get in to true ketosis, that will be tricky, but will come soon.

                          Truly, at your stage, I upped my fats quite a lot, more like 75 than 65. Because that's what kept the cravings away at the beginning. I'll touch base again tomorrow and see how you ended up

                            I don't know how to up my fats anymore without going over my cheese limit, I dip my meat in mayo or sour cream....I need my book to get here, so I can just follow the menus or something, I thought it was all the meat and eggs you wanted, 4 oz cheese, 3 cups veggies (1 cooked 2 salad?) ? if meat and eggs are free foods then it would seem like having high protein ratios doesn't matter, I'm getting confused and frustrated, weight loss or not....

                              you can keep eating just add some proterin, some fat, and some of your veggies since right now you still have all of your veggies left but you have used up the 4 ounces of cheese limit if your ( 4 slice (1 oz) ) entry means you had 4 one ounce slices.
                              what did you eat your bleu cheese dressing on? you could have toss a cup of veggies in with that and have a legal healthy salad.

                              what are you planning to have as your protein for dinner? about 4 ounces is all you should need per serving to go with your fat and carbs unless you are very hungry and need a bigger serving of every thing.

                              Just think of the ratios like the octane in your gas you buy the right mix and then you add different amounts eachday you fill up casue you didn't use the same amount of gas every day. So with your eggs you can have some of your veggies to and make an omlette or just have them on the side. if you cook the veggies in a bout 1 teaspoon of olive oil or butter and then add them to your eggs you will see you are in great ratio casue eggs are almost 60% fat already but the skinless white turkey is lean 78% protein and will need a bit more fat like one or 2 tablespoons of something and say 1 not 2 cups worth of turkey. Add 1 cup of your veggie carbs with your salad dressing and only 1 cup of turkey ands you are almost perfect Atkins ration depending which veggie you add.

                                there is no free food in Atkins. their are foods Dr Atkins didn't place an absolute maximum amount on listed as eat liberally from cause he felt people would self limit them selves feeding only hunger once they knew how his plan worked. he uses the words don't eat your plan too high in protein and don't low fat it but didn't actually give a value. I plugged the samplw meals in and figured out the amounts for OWl and pre and maintnenance but called his med grop back when he was alive and ask how much is too high protein and too low fat. I was told to do the induction at 65% fats and 30% proteins and as the carbs came up slowly in OWl the fat% would lower slightly and lower more in the other phases based on what my CCLL was.

                                It is the high fats that will help you not be fighting hunger all day.
