    thanks that's great info, I thought the more MEAT I ate would make me loose my appetite...I dipped the turkey in the blue cheese dressing, and I was saving my veggies for tonight because I have some cabbage slaw mix I was going to stir fry with the turkey ( I roasted a turkey breast on my rotisserre a day ago and have to eat it up) I was also going to rostisserre some kabobs--I do like veggies but find salad boring and I forget if it's one cup cooked or 2 cups salad for 3 total or can you go 3 cooked if you want...can't wait to get my blasted book here..even though it is the '81 version, I need to go ahead and get the '04 dandr version too but figure the '81 version will get me started .....

      oh and what about meat and eggs being from the "free food" lists....that still the same right? that is where I get confused, if they are on the "free food" list then how can I eat too much of them to be effective...

        I thought it was all the meat and eggs you wanted, 4 oz cheese, 3 cups veggies (1 cooked 2 salad?) ? if meat and eggs are free foods then it would seem like having high protein ratios doesn't matter, I'm getting confused and frustrated, weight loss or not....
        Atkins is DEFINITELY not "all the meat and eggs you can eat". Atkins is a high FAT diet, not a high protein one. BTW, whoever told you that it was, you should march over there tell them that they mislead you. Or send them over here, so I can.

          you can cook all your veggies or eat them all raw the list of the acceptabke veggies is listed in the FAQ section of the board.

          you want to again get that octane right and spread the veggies out to all meals cause 2 tanks of regulat ( no carbs) and one take of premium (all your carbs) will not keep your running well just as a car will bee too lean and then too rich doing that.

          As we move up to OWL and add back all the wonderful low glycemic carbs that will be partr of our permanent way of eating (WOE, here) it will become obvious why we need to start getting in the habit of spreading out our carb load. I don't know what your CCLL will be but based on your already lost 10 pounds you will see whn your book arrives your metabolsim is very lwo resistance ansd you should be at least able to handle 45 net carbs and still lose weight and when your workouts pick up as you get healthier and more endurance you could easily be eating over 70 net carbs a day losing weight.

          once you get your fats up and into ketosis 24/7 you will not be fighting hunger with a water bottle all day long.

            hmm guess I need to butter something...lol... and it will be much easier to do portion control when this knawing hunger goes away....too bad I can't have peanut butter yet, I love the stuff and it's full of fat...

              yeah you got it right about fighting hunger with water all day, that I think is the only reason I've dropped 10lbs, because I have been drinking in excess of 200 oz a day and peeing every 20 min so basically I've flushed my system of excess water weight and carb bloat from my pity party binge I'm recently coming off of....that reminds me..time for water! how long did it take you to lose your 145 amazing and congratulations on it pounds!

                remember lower the protein amount and increase the fat amount a little not a lot see the turky dipping if you had stired the stuff into one cup and eatten would have been super Atkins part of a mean but with 2 cups you are converting the excess protein to sugar which stimulate insulin production which stops fat buring and that then drops your blood sugar back down and poof you are hungry and now the chemical to burn the fats is bing released but this chemical also converts excess proteins to sugar and dumps them in your blodd stream too which ups the sugar level ups the insulin level and poof fat metabolism stops and you are ina vicious circle of hunger. Some meats are very fatty like bacon and will not do this to you unless you eat too much bacon to get too much for your body protein but you'd need a lot of packages of bacon to do that.

                  I dropped from 313 to 200 in 7 months stalled out right at 200 pounds for 8 weeks and then arrived at what should have been goal weight at 16 months but i hadn't embraces body fat% as the way to determine goal weight and with all the muscle weight I added working out and eating Atkins I blew right past is mad cause i was losing the last 10 pounds sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow after shedding the first 113 so fast.

                  According to the body fat % i was a healthy 20% goalie at 178 which i was in sept of 03, but I fought all the way to 168 in May of 04 which turned out to be less then 15% body fat cause I was chasing that chart number of 161 for my bones and height. Which is why I now tell everybody to check the body fat cause we add pounds of muscle weight as we shed the fat weight too.

                      once you get your Atkins going if you get to chapter 15 status of a 4 plus week period of no scale weight nor inches lost and none of the carb creap lowering of your activities etc apply do check with your doc. Every time I had a more then 2 minth stall like the 12 week 6 day summer of 03 one it was cause my thyriod hormone levels were too low. I got a huge advantage going in to the Atkins plan cause I did the pre Atkins blood work and I was diagnosied with HasimotosHypothyroidism and started my thyroid meds giving my metabolism a huge boost. My doc said I would have lost some weight as a result even without any diet and exercise changes but with all 3 I was a superstar.

                        You could experiment on your fitday account before eating your meals by writing down all you plan to eat and adjusting amounts till you are closer to the 65/30/5 ratios of fat/protein/carbs by dropping the protein-rich foods rather than just adding mayo or oils to up the fats.
                        So if your protein would be too high %wise eating 2 cups of turkey try what only eating one and a half cup would do to the ratios.
                        When I started using fitday I spent quite a long time playing with amounts till I learned what amounts of meat/veg/added fats worked out to roughly the right proportions.

                          I got lucky there with the headaches as I don't have caffeinated drinks anymore, I was drinking 3 litres of Diet coke aday and went cold turkey about 4 months ago and am proud say I made it through, boy was I addicted it took a few days to feel anybetter. So I'm glad to have done that before starting Atkins. But I hear you on the sugar cravings, I have been using the diet Jelly (Jello) to satify the need, It had worked so far. I have also noticed that I'm not as hungry as I used to be. I wish you all well in you quest to shed the pounds and look forward to sharing our journey. I started on the 7th Oct. I'm 11lb down .

                            Kim, no, not a performer, but I give a lot of classes and talks regarding instruction material for grades K-12. I would love to hear your music, is there a way? Is it on the net? I can't believe they were so obnoxious as to tell you size 14 was too big to front a band. I was hot at size 14 too! Those were the days. I was also a lot younger. I look like a frumpy housewife now.

                            Yeserday was seafood day. I had shrimp and oysters and crab. I ate one cup of green beans and some salad.

                            I am starving this morning. I should be getting ready for work but think I will make some eggs and cheese.

                              Two ways to get your fats up higher without increasing cheese or butter or red meat is by using olive oil--I stirfry pretty much everything in olive oil these days. The flavor it adds is just incredible and olive oil is so good for your body. I stirfry cabbage, squash, onion, mushroom, peppers, in the olive oil. You can also use olive oil as the base for a salad dressing--I like to put olive oil, olives and feta cheese with some spices in a blender to make a greek dressing.

                              The other is to add avacado to salads or make it up as a dip for dipping your meats as opposed to the mayonnaise. Avacado has all kinds of healthy fats, plus it is high in potassium.

                                hey Ianmaam, well I cheated....on yogurt, I love the stuff and my two year old wanted a yogurt cup then didn't and I ate it.....23g carbs....so guess I'm not eating any other carb things today at all....and I'll have to change my cheat free days to a big fat O.....
                                I'm just so dang hungry and a stress eater and under alot of stress....use to be getting on a scale alot would deter me from eating, as I'd see that number and be disgusted and it would curb my appetite, but maybe I used that trick too often and have become immune to it....I had planned to walk today but it's all cloudy and looking like rain and I have to push two toddlers in a stroller with me so I can't risk the rain, if it was just me, I'd go rain or not...so I did some stomach crunches instead and danced around a bit with the kids. maybe I need to combine appetite supressants with atkins....we'll see after my book gets here and I follow it exactly.
