Sugar free us fine if you find one made with splenda, but it needs to be an occasional treat not a staple.

Re: Oh So Can I Eat Jello??

Dr Atkins suggested we use unflavoured gelatine and make our own jelly (jello in USA) desserts using a legal sweetener. In UK all of the 'sugarfree jelly' packs have aspartame which is NOT recommended, so we have no option other than doing this if we want to stay 'legal' but I think I read on the boards that you can get some readymade pots that use splenda in USA.

As to using 'fat free' products in general - avoid them as much as possible as the manufacturers usually add some form of sugar to them to make them palatable, so stick with normal fullfat products. I make desserts with gelatine and cream and Davinci sugarfree syrups.

Can I eat sugar feeding pudding?

I've heard that you can have sugar free jello (jelly, wherever we're all from) on induction so I would deduce that I can also have sugar free pudding, however I want to make sure before I go through with it so....

Can I eat sugar free pudding during induction?

As stated above, you should only eat it if you can find or make one with splenda. So far I've had no luck with that.

Not sure about the pudding. I think the same would apply to that

Re: Oh So Can I Eat Jello??

You need to check the ingredients to make sure everything in it is on the allowed list! A pudding might for example have cornflour or milk in it which would not be allowed till you reached the relevant rung of OWL.
If you are unsure you can post a list of ingredients off the side of the packet and someone here will advise you.

Definitely be cautious about the pudding - I checked the label of the Jello brand chocolate "sugar free" pudding - too high in carbs! Luckily the sugar free jello is a nice treat!

I've yet to see a s/f pudding that does not have starch in it. So I would stay away....

Well everyone has to find their own way and what works best for their body. If it works for you, and especially it if it sates your craving enough that you can keep away from something worse than that seems fine to me!

I feel like I should add though that I was drinking a Sprite Zero (sweetened with aspartame) every morning and felt the same way you do. I didn't believe that it had any affect on my results, however after I stopped and started drinking only water my weight loss shot up dramatically.

Thanks for your input Grant..if I am going to cut down on my jello intake, could you recommend something sweet tasting that I can snack on? Thanks. Your pictures are great.

Re: Oh So Can I Eat Jello??

Hi swimr4. To be honest, a large part of the reasons we do induction is to break the addiction to sweets and sugar. Your cravings can be triggered by sweet-tasting foods and treats, thus making you more likely to cheat.

How about some alternatives? Eating fatty snacks like cream cheese roll-ups or something might make that need or desire for something sweet subside. I know this might not be what you want to hear, but we're just trying to help you in your Atkins journey.

Pudding is not acceptable. Even sugar free, it's relatively carb laden (starches and whatnot to thicken it) and the carbs on the box do *not* include the milk it takes to prepare the pudding.

As Higgies said, breaking your addiction to the types of food that landed you in the chubby boat to begin with is SO important. It's a big part of what induction was designed to do. People who are in the process of becoming non-smokers can't pick up a "light cigarette" to address their craving. Feeding a craving doesn't squash it, it perpetuates it.

It' ain't easy, but neither is continuing on the path that got you here. You know what is really easy though? Buying the clothes you've always wanted to wear or doing some of the things you've always wanted to do!

                          Continued success!

I feel your pain and know what it's like to just want one sweet thing. I WISH I had some good alternatives to give you. The rich creaminess of cream cheese does seem to help when I have a sweetness craving. Other then that I havn't found anything besides the frankenfoods (not good!) that will do it.

                            **edit**

Der! I just realized that you might want to try something yo ucan cook yourself. At Linda's low carb web site there ar ea number of desert that are induction friendly (the recpies with the asterisks) might try those out. There's a vanilla pudding recipe that looks good and CaliGirl just posted how much she loved the Mock Danish. Mmmm http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/dessert_recipes.html

Yeah, mock danish used to help me out quite a bit. there might also be some cheese cake recipes there to help.
