I did an extended induction for about 6 months. If you like the security of induction and are not bored/feel you need to move on, then stay in it if you have a lot to lose. That's my own humble opinion...

There are 128 fluid ounces in a gallon, so 320 ounces is 2.5 gallons.

            Re: Stalled!

Here's something to consider about water weight. I love running these numbers, especially when someone is drinking this much water. So the nifty metric system is based on the mass and volume of water, as many of you probably know. So 1 milliliter of water in volume weighs 1 gram, and therefore a liter of water weighs a kilogram. There are approximately 33.8 fluid ounces of water in a liter. That means that 320 fluid ounces of water is equal to roughly 9.47 liters. A liter of water weighs a kilogram. So you are drinking 9.47 kg or (using a rough 2.2 pound conversion) approximately 20.8 pounds of water a day.

So, sure, the vast majority of that water is flushed right out of your system, but if your body was totally bent on retaining any significant portion of what you are intaking, you can see that there is a lot of potential temporary water weight in flux.

              Re: Stalled!

Yeah that may be but I measured tonight and I have lost inches off of everywhere. I like water and always have it just makes you have to use the restroom alot. When I am at home I make sure I run upstairs or vice versa to use the restroom so it is also a little extra excercise! At work well our bathrooom is right in the office, I just make sure to use it before going out in public! Lol! Thanks for the breakdown!

                Re: Stalled!

LOL, no problem. I love water and usually drink about a gallon and a half a day myself (192 ounces), especially on the days that I exercise. I just think it's incredible how much water weighs -- and that's the chief reason why I only ever weigh in the morning and even then try to never take it too seriously. The measuring tape and trying on clothes are always the best bets.

Yeah I hear ya. I was myself amazed at what the water weighed. Makes sense to only weigh in the morning and yes measuring helped me feel alot better

                    Re: Stalled!

Hey everyone, this is my first post, I have just been lurking for a while. I see a lot of people that are discouraged after a good loss the first week and then nothing the second. I only lost 3.5 pounds my first week and that was in the first couple of days and nothing since. I am on day 9 and have about 100 lbs to lose and can't believe more didn't come off the first week. I have done atkins before and it was always really good the first week or two so I am getting discouraged. Maybe I just didn't have a lot of water weight to lose? I dunno...

G8rchic just stick to it! I felt the same way too at first and then I jsut stopped worrying and didn't weigh until a week later and now I am not going to weigh until my last day of induction (this is day 12 for me). It can only get better and remember it is better than no weight at all! Drink your water and count your carbs, YOU CAN DO THIS! STay positive we are all here for you !

Thanks Stella and Tfreel! I just bought some ketosticks and it came up purple so I must be doing ok. I am going to try not to weight myself for a little while.
