    Re: Cheat Free Easter?

I would have put a basket with something not foodish, or something legal.

ANyway, I made it through cheat free!! yay!!

For the cole slaw recipe, you can also use umm, 2-3 packets of splenda instead of the 1/4c or liquid.

                Re: Cheat Free Easter?

Cheat free here and there were moments! We went to a dinner party of nine adults - the table was beautifully set with a basket of exquisite chocolates and lighters (he's a broker). I took the lighters and passed the chocolate on. I was in charge of appetizers so it was salami, pancetta, calabrese, provolone, olives, red peppers - and I put toothpicks in each item so no bread was needed. The main course was prime rib which I ate plenty of and enjoyed. No one noticed I passed on the potatoes which looked amazing but not as amazing as the prime rib. I kept water in my wine glass and during dessert, simply took coffee (decaf) and cream. I was really proud that I was able to stay on track!

Now it's all the darn left over Easter candy in the office I needed to quietly toss!

I even baked two sugar-laden cobblers for my family, one peach and one blueberry. Sat back and watched them eat without touching them myself.

I also managed to skip thru Easter without cheating. I made the big Easter dinner at my house, the only thing I was tempted by was the mashed potatoes but I still managed to "just say no"!

Idahogirl - Cole Slaw tsk tsk tsk.

1/2 medium cabbage, finely shredded, about 1 pound
                          1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
                          2 tablespoons white vinegar
                          1/4 teaspoon celery seed
                          1/8 teaspoon pepper
                          1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix the mayonnaise, Splenda, vinegar and seasonings in a large bowl. Mix in the cabbage , stirring to coat well. Chill several hours before serving.

TIP: It may not look like the sauce will be enough to coat that much cabbage. It will be plenty, as you'll see after it has chilled a few hours. An easier way to get the sauce evenly mixed into the slaw is to put about 1/3 of the cabbage in a large bowl and blend in all of the sauce. Now add another 1/3 of the cabbage and mix well, then repeat with the remaining cabbage.

                          Makes about 10 servings

Per Serving: 176 Calories; 18g Fat; 1g Protein; 4g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs

This has been my favorite non-low carb slaw recipe for many years. The number of servings is just a guess, but you should get about 10 small servings or so. The whole recipe has about 30 carbs so if you get a different number of servings, just adjust your count
Nope that wouldn't work this one has dried cranberries and almonds and honey its the only way I like it!!! Its SO YUMMY!!!! Maybe I will give your recipe a try maybe I will find mine isn't the only one I like!

I would think it incredibly rude to skip putting a basket at your place, just like I would put a wine glass even if you didn't drink wine. I am sure it wasn't done to be mean!

Count me in as cheat-free too. But then I was at my MIL's house and I never have liked her gravy...or canned sweet potatoes...or canned cranberry sauce. Some canned foods just don't even resemble their fresh counterparts.

Idahogirl - when you're on OWL, you can add cranberries and almonds into your coleslaw. Dried cranberries would be higher in carbs than fresh or frozen, though; you'd have to wait longer to add those back. I would think if you subbed Splenda for your honey you might not even know the difference. My MIL did make a coleslaw recipe similar to Scooter's with Splenda in it since my SIL and I are both on Atkins...that's one recipe of hers I really enjoy.
