  • How we doing? Checking in w/ fellow induction folks

Howdy from the Twin Cities. I am just interested in reading about how other new to induction folks are doing and what you have experienced so far. I find the comraderies so very helpful and perhaps we can help each other out.

I'm on my 8th day and depending on when I weigh myself, I'm down 6 - 8 pounds. Some days are so much easier than others - this week is hard since it's my T-O-M as well......sigh, those sugar cravings. My biggest hangup is getting enough fat and eating less vegetables! I still want to eat skinless chicken breast and tons of fresh veggies - and need to get more fat and less high carb veggies into me. Plus, I've rediscovered the low carb cheesecake and it's hard to stop with one mouthful. I've been trying to drink a whole lot more water to fill me up.....and sometimes, it works. So, how about you?

I'm doing great!!! The keto stix are staying in the moderate color ,I'm not hungry or feeling bad,but I am thirsty ALL the time so I'm constantly drinking water and peeing. I'm loosing @ a half pound per day.Today I ate a T-bone steak with butter for breakfast ,a second one for lunch and 1/2 chicken breast with a cup green bean. Also I have 2 cups of coffee per day with heavy whipping cream. Ive found out that for me it helps to vary my calories every couple days to keep my metabolism from settling ranging any where from 1200 calories to 2200 calories.I normall stay @1200 but every third day I try to consume on the higher end. Plus I'm walking a mile in the morning and evening with my dog. Hope everyone is having as much luck and a painless journey!

Hang on in there - on day 15 you can move to OWL and add 5 more net carbs of vegetables!!
Check the 'power of five' thread in the OWL forum to see how this will expand your food options. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5519
I stayed on the vegetables rung of OWL for several 5 net carb additions to allow me to eat 6-8 servings a day!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

I'm on Day 3 and its going really well so far. Just had a mushroom and cheese omelette for brekkie which was delicious by any standard....

Not sure if I'm in ketosis or not yet. Going to do ketostix tonight and see what colour they come up. I felt quite hungry all day yesterday, despite eating plenty. looking forward to that appetite decreasing - day 4 it should kick in by, I suppose.

Defo got that induction flu thing. I work in sales and was with a customer yesterday, then all of a sudden I started to break out in a cold sweat. It was awful, I was mortified, customer didn't know what to do. I'll be happy when that particular little side effect goes away.....

Hi, I'm on day 3. I checked for ketosis yesterday and it was purple. I thought that was odd due to Monday was an all our binge on carbs day. Yesterday I had this "hi" feeling. I'm going to post my menu on the menu board. Tell me what you think. Good luck to one and all.

By the way...I find this site to be EXTREMELY helpful. Everyone is very supportive.

P.S. I have this craving for hot wings tonight. Wings are expensive per pound, but I really want some.

I am however going to be more conservative with my dinner portion. good luck!

Today is day 5 for me..it's funny for me to think that Monday has already been a full week. I am very pleased with my results so far. I'm glad its the weekend though so I can cook some meals ahead, and freeze or whatnot for the week. There were a couple days this week that I was scrounging for stuff to bring to work since I am there almost 10 hrs a day.

Im doing pretty good with the food. I dont feel deprived at all and i havent even had any cravings. My only true difficulty is the WATER. I hate water! Ive probably always been dehydrated too. im getting in about 6-7 cups now..im working my way up. Its hard, tho..and i refuse to add anything to it. I just gotta suck it up and get used to it. Blah!

If you hate water, try it carbonated or add some lemon juice and a little bit of splenda to cut the boring flavor.. that'll help you get your water without the boredom.. exercise also helps with making water seem more tasty for some reason.. I find when I am dehydrated from a good workout.. the last thing I want is cola or milk.. BLAH! but some a liter of water hits the spot.

                        Good Evening,

I'm new and on day four of induction, I just bought some sticks but I am pretty sure that I am losing weight. I also need to focus on more fat and less veggies. I love vegetables...so I'm having trouble limiting it to two cups of salad and one cup of other veggies. I'm also a college student so my resources do not allow for a lot of nice steaks and I'm not much of a chicken person. However, I am learning different ways to cook chicken so it tastes better. Does anyone know of some low-carb sauces that I can make to put on the chicken? I'm leary of buying the low-carb stuff in the store because most of them have a lot of chemicals. Thanks and I hope everyone is doing well!

                            Day 6 for me.....
5.2 pounds lost....Found the best spot in the bathroom that gives me the lowest reading...only by .1 pounds...but for now I need that!!!
Started walking on the treadmill watching the 20th Anniversary DVD box set of Oprah and had walked 9 kilometers......I only stopped because I was crying from her most memorable guests. Couldn't hold on (I still have to hang on) and wipe my tears.....
Tomorrow is the crosstrainer and have my ipod all ready!!!

Here in Germany I found a great bacon.... .5 carbs for 100 grams. The package is 150 grams and has 16 slices. It makes me feel like I am eating more than I really am.
Also, here most people drink sparkling water....and I have found that it really fills me up...maybe it is the bubbles...

Husband has lost 56 pounds since December.......
Feel great and coming to the boards is a great help and inspiration!!

I'm only on day 1 but I have a question. I LOVE plain water, but it gives me terrible heartburn. I hate sparkling water unless it's flavored, but most of the flavored water has aspartame. Any ideas?
