  • How Long Do You Give A Diet To Work?

    When you start a new diet, how long do you give it to show progress before you start considering your other options?

    Atkins is a way of eating, which is wonderful, because unlike a diet-you never go "off" it. However, I've given Atkins a couple tries of three or four weeks now and not lost weight. I'm on my last try of three weeks, with religious exercise 30 minutes on the treadmill three days a week.

    But I was curious, most of us have tried numerous other diets-how long did you give it to work before you moved onto the next?

    Well, being that Atkins "diet" is a way of eating for life because the word "diet" implies a daily ritual of eating, I would give yourself a full check of inches and how "clean" your Induction was comparing the excess salt, hidden sugar, etc. intake. Muscle builds while exericising, and if you've been a yo-yo dieter, your body is screaming "WOA!" to new things. GIve it time. Weight did not appear over night, it won't leave the same way.

    Being a previous yo-yoer myself...my body likes to refuse to lose weight, but I'm sneaky and have lost inches despite.

    Keep going! You'll do great and possibly post your menus

        Snuggles, Atkins works if YOU work the plan. This is a life-long process. It's something that takes dedication, planning, patience and hard work. If I remember correctly, didn't you recently return from a cruise where you ate lots of carb-laden foods? You need to give your body time to adjust from yo-yoing back and forth from high-carb/glucose-burning to LC/fat-burning.

        Atkins is a way of eating, which is wonderful, because unlike a diet-you never go "off" it.
        If you have a healthy view of eating and are satisfied with the foods because it's not a "DIET", isn't it already working?

          Todays Menu:
          2 slices cheeseburger quiche (off Linda's induction recepies)
          1 cup pepperoni
          1 slice taco bake (off Linda's induction recepies)
          2 tblsp sour cream
          1 cup jicama
          1 oz chedder cheese
          8 oz steak
          2 cup lettuce (no dressing)

          Calories 2016 Carbs 20
          Fat: 67% Protien: 30% Carbs: 3%


          Yesterday:
          4 slices cheeseburger quiche (breakfast and dinner)
          1 cup jicama
          1 cup carnitas
          1 cup pepperoni
          2 cups lettuce
          4 tblsp ranch dressing

          Calories 2266 Carbs 20
          Fat: 76% Protein: 21% Carb: 3%
