  • Atkins Morning Shine bars???

    Hi everyone,

I started induction 3 days ago and love these Atkins Morning Shine bars...especially the chocolate ones
Now, it says on the package that its good for all phases and it has 2 net carbs.
I've read about atkins shakes stalling the weight loss for a lot of people, so now I'm wondering if it is known to anyone that these bars do the same.
I's not like I'm having problems (wouldn't know as I haven't been on the scale yet) but I just wanted to know what the more experienced people here think.

A no-no for induction. They are marketed as legal, but Dr Atkins advised against us eating them during induction.

Personally I think they are one of the kisses of death on the Atkins way of life. They can lead to stalls and also give you the taste again for the "forbidden fruits".

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

oh darn, why did I know you would say something like that?
It's good I asked then, thanks for responding so quickly, was about to have one.
I'll hide them during the next 1 1/2 weeks then and will have to come up with something else to snack at work then.

*wanders off to think of a solution*

Bring a cooler to work stocked with goodies like string cheese, deviled eggs and raw veggies. For snacks I like chicken breast cut in strips with mayo to dip it in, or the ingredients to make mini sandwiches of meat, cheese, onion, and tomato wrapped in lettuce.

It's more work than the bars, but learning to plan ahead and eat well is what will save you time and again.

        Good luck!

          Thanks for the tips Linda!
I realized today (while cooking dinner) that does indeed take more time to plan my food now but I'll figure it out, just need to get into the groove

not only does it take more time to plan, but for me it seems like this woe takes alot of preparation time too. there's always veggies to cut up and wash up for storage. there's so many dishes that's so much easier if you make a large batch and freeze part of it for the next week. it's my 3rd day back on induction, and i've spent so much time in the kitchen and funny thing is, i'm not eating all the time. just cooking and used to if i'm cooking i'm eating , tasting what i'm cooking or snacking on junk while i'm cooking dinner. not that i'm complaining but it definately keeps ya busy in the kitchen.

just a little something i noticed and thought i'd share.

              Hi Monie,

Yes, it does take some prep work, but think of the way that now you know EXACTLY what you are putting in your body instead of just eating the junk from a fast food place or something. Knowledge=Power!

                Re: Atkins Morning Shine bars???

I appreciate that planning makes it easier to follow this WOE but I like to spend very little time in the kitchen most of the time, about 5 minutes or less per meal. That includes preparation, eating and washing up. So I eat a lot of prepared food like grilled chicken from Churrasco, they grill it almost next door to me. Canned turkey and chicken with prepacked salad like Spring greens and zero carb dressings from Walden Farms. I do boil eggs but I boil 4 at a time, eat two and save the other two for later. I also have lots of different kinds of cheese and cream cheese and heavy cream available. And raw vegetables. And berries. I almost never cook or even turn on the stove.

Small confession though, for the holidays etc I do cook. I was trained in full gourmet cooking several years ago and I do indulge in my cooking hobby on occassions. But on a daily basis I spend next to no time in the kitchen.
