  • I dont understand :-(

    So i cut out all the things i talked about yesterday .. Crystal light, diet soda & sf jello .... and ............... i gaind 1/2 a pound ... grrrr i dont get it ..

    I feel i just loose the initial water weight on this diet and thats it .. but iv done it before, and it WORKED ... really well ..... so i dont understand why it doesnt work for me anymore?????

    Yesterday i ate :

    4 scrambled eggs with a little onion for flavor

    1 pork chop

    1 chicken thigh

    1 cup cooked veggies ( broccoli/coliflower)


    veggies & eggs cooked in butter
    Chicken & porkchop pan fried in olive oil

    about 60 oz of water ..


    So tell me what i did wrong??????????? I know i forgot to eat my salad yesterday but that shouldnt have made me gain weight???

    nothing sweetie, chill out.... this is why you dont weigh yourself every day!

    us girls have lots of stuff going on in our bodies during our cycle which always messes with our weight, weigh in once a week!

    You did hit your 3 cups of veggies didnt you?

    Am i reading right that youve lost 8lbs in 8 days?????? WOW!

      Don't panic. Like Emma said us girls have wierd fluctuations. I'm up 4.5 still from last thursday. Know that it will pass! Where are you in you tom cycle?

        Looks good! Keep at it, you are doing fine.

        Maybe up your water intake? I've been told in the past to try and get 1/2 body weight in water in minimum?

        How about exercise, did you get any in yesterday? If not, it could be that, just the fluctuation....

        Did you eat every couple of hours? Maybe add up the calories also, not sure if it is really all that much.....

          The only thing that strikes me about that is that you may not be eating enough. Even allowing for fairly generous amounts of olive oil and butter and generous portions, that's well under 1000 calories. And you are getting only about 5-6 net carbs at best. Could be your body is going into starvation mode and clinging onto it's fat stores.

          Do you know what your BMR is, even roughly? This link will allow you to calculate it:
          Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate with 7 formulas including Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict, and Schofield. Find your resting calorie needs.

            You could do with getting your water to about 80oz also

              Kate - you may be right! I just looked at the menu again also, only 1 cup of veggies and the protein items... may not be enough along with more water intake needed?

              Irish - how are these meals mixed together? scram with pork chop? Chicken with veggies? Is that all you ate?

              The good news is, you may be able to eat more!

                For breakfast i had 4 scrambled eggs

                Then for lunch i had a pork chop

                and i had the chicken thigh & veggies for dinner ..


                Thanks for your help everyone ..

                I'll stick with it .... eat my veggies and drink more water .. and i'll see about getting more calories too .. maybe add some bacon in the morning .. a salad with lunch .... maybe some string cheese or pepparoni snacks ... i dont know what else i can do

                    Don't be frustrated - think about this: I had a hysterectomy nearly 3 years ago so you'd think I wouldn't have all the fluctuations...but I do...and I don't even know when to expect them! I get really pissed when I gain, too. But then I have to remember, I'm not 100% in control of everything going on in my body.

                    I'm also a chronic scale-o-holic and I'm highly impatient...the irrational side of brain thinks that since I made up my mind to do something about my weight and I'm taking the steps, the weight should just melt away into oblivion.

                    Just don't give up and try not to be frustrated. You're doing great!!

                      You do know that the food you're eating has weight? That the water you're drinking has weight? The hormone fluctuations will cause you to retain water? That your bathroom habits will reflect on the scale? All of these things and more will cause the scale to fluctuate up and down. It's not uncommon for people to see a 1/2-6lb fluctuation over the course of the day.

                      Bottom line is that if you're not eating 1750 calories more than you need, you did NOT gain a half pound of FAT. Who cares if it's water?? That's transient. You're in this to remove FAT. You're going to have to learn to separate the emotional side of this and look at it rationally. If you did not over eat by 1750 calories, you did NOT gain half a pound of fat.

                      If the scale rattles you that much and a 1/2lb here and there rattles you that much, stay off the dumb thing. The only thing you have to gain by doing that to yourself is anxiety

                      This WOE works for everyone that committs to it and sticks with it. The only way to guarantee that this WOE won't work is to simply not work it and not stick with it. Giving up sure as heck isn't gonna do the trick. You're not always going to be rewarded by the scale for being good. It's not going to reward you daily, sometimes not weekly either. You have to decide that you're in this for the long haul and for your health and let that be your reward when you don't see the losses. The alternative is seeing gain.

                      Up your water intake.
                      Get some exercise.
                      Eat your veggies and spread them out throughout the day.

                          I understand your frustration. I got on the scale yesterday and today (even though I'm technically only counting what it shows on fridays) and tuesday it was down another pound and then today it was back up. I lost nothing over the weekend and yet I've ate less the past five days and have been more active these past five days than I've have been in months. I was plain flat out mad when I saw the scale number... that is until I started to remember how much better my eating habits are now than they were. I've been on this since 9/24/07 and no one my size can be off sugar and bad carbs, eating less, and following induction rules and not lose at some point. It's gotta come off sooner or later. Our bodies may just be waiting for the later moment to start dumping.

                            Ditto on what Brook said. If it goes up a pound or more during the day it doesn't matter, it's just water and food weight.
                            I'm addicted to the scale, so I can't just not step on it. I mean, I could but I want to step on it every morning and every night. At night I normally weight 2-3, sometimes a little bit more over my normal weight and in the morning I weight 2-3 or however much less than the night before. Even though I step on that scale every morning and every night just about, I don't make every number I see my official weight. Generally your weight will stay around a certain number. Mine is 188 at the moment, so if it says 188.3 or 188.6 I don't really care....it's 188. Sometimes I have an extra .whatever on there because my body hasn't registered that I've peed or I haven't gone to the bathroom.
                            You can't obsess over numbers, because it'll drive you insane. Remember that if you're looking slimmer you are losing weight. The only thing is that the scale hasn't caught up. One day you could wake up and have had a wooshie! Happened to me I went from 193 to 189 overnight. And even though the scale didn't budge for almost two weeks I kept at it because I knew I was following the plan and it was bound to come off.
                            Just in case you don't know, a wooshie is when the wooshie fairy comes and takes away those pounds of water weight that you've been retaining. Okay, it's not really a fairy, but it seems like magic

                              To clarify ......... My 'Frustration' was that i couldnt figure out what food i was eating ( or not for that matter ) that was causing the weight gain ....


                              i am perfectly aware of the fact that my weight is bound to fluctuate for a number of reasons .. THAT doesnt frustrate me at all .. i realize that thats perfectly normal ... i have gained 3 lbs in the last week ............. As far as it being just water weight, that would only lead me to the conclusion that the initial weight i LOST was just water in wich case i have not really lost fat at all .... I have done this diet before and i KNOW this WOE works ..
