Re: Week of Nov 12 Atkinites

I'm in my first day of restart... I lost like 18lbs last may-july and I put it all back again... I've been trying to restart all this time.. but it seems to be impossible.. So, Today I started and cheated after a clean induction day.. I won't punish myself again, otherwise I'll be content today with not having bingeing all day nonstop like every single day of the past months... so, yes, I'll join yu guys. I need to be accountable to someone.

Welcome aboard daniejim. Ive been trying to start induction for the last 3 days, but wind up cheating in some way or another. Today was my first day of completely induction foods only. Its tough I KNOW, but if i can do it you can too. I had to get rid of foods that were not in the induction phase of the plan before i could even handle it. I wish you the best of luck to you. Remember tommorrow is a new day,,, you can do it!

          God Bless...

Re: Week of Nov 12 Atkinites

Here's the formula for the water intake! =)

Start with 64 ounces and add 8 ounces for each 25 lbs you want to lose. For me, I want to lose 80 lbs, so I add 24 ounces to the 64 ounces and get 88 ounces.

(Of course, I had way more than that today....)

Anyway, how are you guys doing tonight? I'm doing okay. Kinda mad at my class because I need to taste everything in order to get a grade in the class. >< We have to evaulate the food by texture and everything. I took very little of everything and drank uber amounts of water so I wouldn't eat anymore. Tomorrow, I will go back to being strict and drinking my water and eating my non carby food.... I also have some extra shrimp left for me to eat. YUMMY!! ^_^ A whole meal in one bag, I can't wait.

Well, I am going to take a shower and all that good stuff. Keep up the good work you guys. I'll be back later.

Today, tomorrow, whatever you would like to call it.

Breakfast: Sausage like things, (don't worry, they are low carb, otherwise parents wouldn't have cooked them...) 1 oz of cheese, 1/2 cup cucumber slices. Water!

Lunch: Shrimp (oh goodness, I can't wait!!!!) 2 cups of salad with a balsimic dressing.

Dinner: I have no idea yet. It all depends on what my mom cooks.

I'll incorperate snacks once parents end up buying more stuff home. It's a bit hard when we don't have much at the moment.

Other than that. Your guyses meals look way awesome! Goodluck for today and don't forget to drink that water! Chug chug chug!!!

Hey....Yes, the squash meatball is DELICIOUS...I almost feel like I'm eating real spaghetti and I feel guilty...lol...

                        Here's the recipe:

                        1 whole spaghetti squash
ground beef made into little balls seasoned with a little garlic salt
1 teaspoon tomato paste mixed with cup of water
                        mushrooms
                        shredded cheese

First, poke squash with fork all over then bake @375 for 1 hr 15 min-Until shell is tender..Cut in half, take out all seeds and guck...Then take a fork and scrape the heck out of both shells...You will be amazed with the amount you get.

Second, in a frying pan, fry the balls of ground beef, add mushrooms then tomato sauce stir at low heat

Add enough "spaghetti" (not all) into frying pan and let soak in tomato meat sauce for about 5 min...add shredded cheese and VOILA!!!

Let me know how you like it....

Good luck to you and everyone else today

                          Good afternoon everyone,

Still on the wagon! Yesterday I was able to get through the day without cheating and I even exercised. I was supposed to exercise this morning since I won't have time tonight, but I just couldn't get out of bed. Anyway, I guess I'll try my best to make time tonight.

                          Todays Menu:

                          Breakfast: 2 eggs
                          2 hot breakfast patties
                          1 black coffee w/ splenda

                          Lunch: diced chicken
                          green salad with Italian cheese

Dinner: Shrimp w/ 1-carb Ketchup, cilantro, hot sauce and lemon

Snacks: (I forgot to bring my snacks to work )

Keep up the good work everyone!

Excellent Inkylady, keep it up! The first few days were awful for me but has been SLOWLY been getting better. So far I have had a pretty rough day as I had an afternoon meeting that had cookies and peanut m&ms at it. I new this ahead of time and brought in a boiled egg with the shell still on and basically hung onto to it for dear life. I made it through but it was amazing how much it shook me up to sit in front of that plate of cookies. That was over two hours so ago and I am still shaky. It is amazing how much I have let food control my life and my feelings. To make matters worse, I went and weighed myself for inspiration after the ordeal and found that I had not lost any weight which is very frustrating. Not bad enough to quit over but still frustrating. I will try and wait another week and check in again. Lets hope that there is some success next time or else I'll be screaming for .

I hope everyone else's day is going better than mine! No cheats yet but I sure have the urge to go grab a bottle of syrup and kill it!

You are all doing great Keep up the good work all of you

Just a couple of comments to add

I apologise for not remembering who posted about balsamic dressing, but balsamic vinegar was the one vinegar Dr Atkins warned us not to eat as it contains sugar

As for calculating your net carbs by deducting the fiber (as explained so well by Validrouge earlier in this thread - thank you Joy ) for some countries outside the USA the carbs are counted differently, so if anyone reading that explanation who doesnt live in USA will need to check their own country's method.

For example, UK labelling doesnt count fibre as carbs, but lists it separately in a later section of the label - not immediately under the total carbs number.

So when a UK-labelled product lists 'total carbs' it is the same as being 'net carbs' as our fibre grams have not been included and so we dont have to do the maths!

Here is an example of a UK label

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
