  • Have I set myself Back 2 Days?

    Hi,

    I'm currently on day 3 of the induction and I tend to keep track of my carbs in a notebook and upload them to my fitday at the end of the day.

    Yesterday i messed up my calculations and accidentally ate 30g carbs insted of 20g. Theoretically I should be going into ketosis today or tomorrow, but have I set myself back to the start by overeating carbs?

    Hi Divine, I cant answer your question but I too am on my 3rd day on induction and I doubt if you have set yourself back to the start, maybe carry on today with your new awareness? and it will probably take you the next couple of days to start ketosis.

    I wasnt aware ketosis would kick in that quick, im feeling ok how are you feeling?

      I don't know, it'd read it took 2-3 days but I don't know how reliable my source was. I'm definately not going to quit over and extra 10g of carbs (for a start I did my big shop yesterday)

      Yesterday I was feeling a bit rubbishy but today I'm feeling reall really good, I'm bouncing off the walls. How's it going for you?

        I don't think so. Today is till day 3, IMO. 10 extra carbs on accident is WAY better than cheating and over-loading.

          Did you subtract your fiber carbs?

          Anyway, just pick up where you left off. And make sure you stay within the 20 net carb limit. Use this as a learning experience.

            Its kinda of weird, yesterday evening I got a thick head! and this morning my legs feel weak, I am drinking loads of water, are you?

            I dont feel as bad as I thought though I have had the shakes and been sweaty more than usual but touch wood I dont feel that bad, Apart from the very slight blip..How are you doing? and as not2late says use it as a learning experience

              Ketosis is different for everyone. I drop into ketosis after 48 hours, it takes my wife almost a week.

              Don't worry so much about one day of 10 extra carbs, especially if the source of the carbs was clean. You're better off having 10 extra grams from more eggs/veggies than you are if you lost it and grabbed a snickers.

              If you're looking for Atkins for a good, long term solution, then 10g of carbs on day 2 of your induction is pretty meaningless. If you'll feel better about making the 'goal' of clean induction, start over tody!

                Yesterday I was completely spaced out all day, I just wanted to curl up and go to sleep. And I spent about 3 hours absolutely deperate for a jacket potato or some pasta but I remained strong (although I think thats when my over-optimistic adding up happened)

                I'm drinking so much water I can't beleive it. I've never really drunk water before but I had about 20 glasses yesterday, maybe more 2 of them were pint glasses.

                Today i had 1 when I woke up then my cup of caffeine free tea 5 glasses of water with my lunch and I'm about to go get another one. It's quite crazy.

                Thanks for this, I guess I should concentrate on the fact that yesterday I would have killed someone for a plate of chips and there was a box off biscuits 3 ft away and I still stuck to the plan rather than concentrating on 10g extra.

                    Do yourself a huge favor, get the biscuits out of your house

                    It's so much easier to fall in a moment of temporary weakness if what you crave is at hand, it's a lot harder to cheat or go off the diet if you have to walk/drive to the store specificly to get something to cheat with.

                    Congrats for not falling off, and i mean that.

                      I am being vstrong, I have caramel digestives and milk digestives in the house for everyone else and Im not tempted at all.......my down fall is bread and gorgeous sauces

                        I would if I could, but they're not at home they're at work

                        I think there'd be a riot/lynch mob if I made the biscuits dissapear.

                          When I failed my diet last time, I moved jobs to a company with free soda/vending machines and little by little it just killed me. The company I'm at now has the same policy, I'm determined not to fail prey to the same traps this time!

                              Not to derail the thread, but I have a small refrigerator in my office now packed with water bottles and atkins snacks, so I have to make the concious choice to cheat, not cheat because I got hungry and something else was available.
