    Re: Inches or Weight

I guess it may be the more you have to loose the more you will loose in induction
I think that is generally true, though again it can vary between individuals. Your starting weight has a lot to do with it, as does your age, sex and how you ate before.

    Take two people:

Jane wants to lose 20 pounds and loses 3 pounds during induction
Sue wants to lose 120 pounds and loses 12 pounds during induction

While Sue is likely to be thrilled, Jane could come in here, read about Sue's 12 pound loss and feel disappointed with her meagre 3 pounds. However on a percentage basis Jane has actually lost a lot more weight (15%) than Sue (10%).

It is also not easy to see how others perceive you. So, although inches I think is more important, it still doesn’t complete the picture to your conscious. Just a thought..
I have to agree with Einy. And as much as I'd like to say that inches are more important to me, I can't only because doctors don't care about inches. They care about pounds and therefore are not kind when they write stuff in your chart. I don't like the word OBESE. And although it's only a word, it's a word that does take its toll on my self-esteem (despite what the mirror says).

That's going to change because the guidelines are now saying that doctors should start taking waist circumferences in addition to height and weight. Waist circumference is supposed to be a better predictor of heart disease than weight or BMI alone. The docs I work for have already changed their physical exam forms to include waist circumference.

I believe in inches ^_^ its good to see the scale from time to time, but I wouldn't stress it.. once a week or every two weeks is fine, but don't over do it

Hi Myra, There are a lot of changes that happen, im taking each day as it comes at the moment, like many people on here have said, it took us all a while to get to how we were so it will take a while to get to where we want....thats why this bulletin board to me is good. Like minded people
